That woman is not conscious. She can not talk. She does not talk.

Why not hold a hearing and have the nurses testify to the facts they observed. Then we can hear doctors on their medical conclusions based on the facts.

Nurse after nurse has come forward and said that Terri can talk, has talked. One nurse said that Terri used to sit at the nurse's station and greet people as they arrived, saying to them "Hi." This does not sound like a person without a mind to me.

How did she get to the nurse station? Ur right guy we arent mds but we spend more time with the doctors patients to know what they are capable of we just need docs permission to take care of the folks.

Not trying to belittle you, Mrs. T. I'm just saying that RNs ain't experts in determining what constitutes conscious actions. Neither am I.

Neurologists, on the other hand, are. And every court-appointed neurologist has come to the same conclusion--no higher brain activity.

Anyway, these people so badly screwed their daughter up that she developed a eating disorder. Are we supposed to believe they ever had her interests at heart. They just don't wnat her to escape their abuse.

I know your not guy simply stating a piece of facts we do indeed spend a lot of time with docs patients we see and inform you of thier progress simple fact. I do feel that maybe some of these nurses are doing this thing bout schiavo for publicity though

Are you saying that nurses are too stupid to be able to notice what is a response in their patients, Guy?

My mother went to a neurologist in the early stages of ALS. He treated her as if whe were a malingerer or something.

The nurses in her GPs office and her GP went to bat for her and got her the care she needed because they knew better than the specialist. A hell of a lot better.

Media whore nurses either out-right lying or grossly misrepresenting their abilities to assess cognitive status

An unfortunately story, NYE, and honestly a similar experience with my family is what pushed me into medicine, i.e. "I can do this better."

But that is the exception, rather than the rule.
