At least if I yell at him, I'll get a response... which is more than I can say about God.

Much suffering in this life brings much reward in the afterlife, especially if it is endured well. The lack of something is the opposite of the presence of something. What is farther from light than the lack thereof? The color black is the opposite of the color white. the lack of black ink on white paper is white. Your reward in heaven will be greater than your suffering on Earth. Suffering refines. Even God experiences suffering. You would not appreciate good if you did not experience bad. The reward for televangelists is the praise of their listeners. Do you want super powers for the right reasons?

Or, we could just be in hell right now...
The lack of something is the opposite of the presence of something. What is farther from light than the lack thereof?
Blah, blah, blah, more mystic crap.
the lack of black ink on white paper is white.
That doesn't demonstrate an opposite. Indeed, that example falls under whaleboy's contextual argument, if that--the opposite of black ink on white paper is not white, since the white color is pre-existing, and there is nothing that would qualify as the opposite of "ink".
Your reward in heaven will be greater than your suffering on Earth. Suffering refines.
Does it, now? Are you sure it doesn't just turn more and more people bitter, and in many cases, corrupting the original messages set down in the good book?
You would not appreciate good if you did not experience bad.
Nobody's arguing this.
The reward for televangelists is the praise of their listeners.
And are many of these televangelists worthy of praise? Billy Graham, maybe. Jimmy Swaggert? Puh-leeze.
Do you want super powers for the right reasons?
Since when is "helping those in need" a wrong reason?

Brent, here's your problem. You're really trying insanely hard to pull off this Mystic Christian (tm) ****, and it's not working. If anything, your arguments are making me more defensive against Christianity, making me argue against it... and that's not something I want to do. Why?
Because I know he's out there. I know he's good, I know he's omnipotent. I just can't believe he's letting all this **** happen here. I can believe that he sacrificed his son for the greater good. Sure. What I can't wrap my head around is why the **** he'd let millions die in a tsunami for no just cause. Was it vengeance because those sino-sinners don't tithe to him? What possible meaning could it have?
Sorry, I don't buy the end times bull**** that's in the mass market Christian(tm) thrillers these days. I can't even read the dreck, what with how poorly they're written.
If salvation is truly availible to everyone, why would God toss them so callously aside and murder them wholesale?
Your mystic sophistry provides no answers, and really doesn't reflect well upon the greater truth.B♭3
