  • Oil continues its slippery slide...blahblahblah, DanS?

I can't find DanS' old thread where he talked about the declining price of oil, and all about the Bush administration being responsible for it, etc.

    Oil hits record $57.50/barrel...

      Expensive oil

At least they should lower the gasoline prices. Yesterday I payed DKK 8.92 per liter, which translates to: (Americans hold on to your hats) $6.07/gallon.

If this leads to better fuel-efficiency, it's a good thing.

I'd like to see it, but I'm realistic. We won't see alternative sources unless big companies can make obscene profits.

Screw that! I don't waste gas, but I pay the same amount as everyone else. Find some other way for your goals. Don't tax me.

Which is of course the best-case-scenario. Perhaps in 40 years we will all drive cars running of cow-dung

Increases in oil prices is like a tax. You said that was a good thing. I'd like to see people waste less gas too, but don't punish everyone.

Ideally, I'd like fuel efficiency to go up and gas prices stay low. I'd like everyone to use less. But if gas prices are going to be high, what's wrong with wishing for better fuel-efficiency.

I just don't get you lately Kid. You aren't making sense.

I'd personally want to see less hummers here in California.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)
