Yea, that was a danger, moreso than I realized at the time. Interestingly my mother was a physician and was the first to diagnose a case of aids in our county while I was in college. One of my cousins (gay and very promiscuous) died of aids in the late 1980s. Fortunately for me aids wasn't very prevalent amongst the heterosexual population at the time, and I used condoms about half of the time even then. Still I was lucky, as I slept with more than 30 women before I was 30 years old, some of whom (like the girl I mentioned in my opening post) had considerably more partners than I did.

I dated a woman in 1989 for a few months. I was tired of sleeping around (I went on another tear after I got out of the service) and decided to try and have a longer term relationship, so I picked a woman who seemed more conservative and I didn't try to sleep with her for a long time. But finally I did try to get physical with her, as we were getting along famously and I thought it was time to make my move.

She shrunk from my touch though. I asked her what was wrong and she said she couldn't tell me. I told her that if she couldn't trust me then I didn't see a future for us, and I broke up with her. Two months (and one intense consolation lover) later her sister called me and told me that she was in the hospital. I visited her there and found out that she had full blown aids. I never would have guessed that of all the women I had known that she would be the one who got infected. I was much more careful after that. In fact the only woman who I've slept with since then who I haven't used a condom with is my current girlfriend, and we've been together for over 7 years now.

I'm 44, monogamous for over 7 years now and only tempted a few times to sleep with someone else, in every case when directly propositioned by rather attractive women. I never succummed though, and I don't even flirt or otherwise make myself seem available. I've done it all before, whereas each day in my relationship is a new milestone for me. Sleeping around didn't make me happy, it just kept me from being bored.

Damn, that's quite awful. It seems that your experience with AIDS is bigger than the majority of the population. You also dodged the bullet in that one...

I've been with people who were married, which Im not proud of but.....well, its their risk.

I cheated in my only serious relationship but yeah, as others have said, things can't be that great if you're tempted in the first place.

Since then.....well, there have been absentee gf's in the picture with a few of the blokes I've been with....but....at the end of the day I havent been out to destroy the relationship, and in most cases I havent - or at least, havent been the sole cause.

it does in the fact she can be so hypocritical. I mean thats the only part that really bothers me, is that she always makes it out to be like im going to be the one thats going to cheat, or leave, and based on whats happened in the past with her, and whats currently happening its garbage.

so yeah, its hypocrisy that hurts.
