Um... wouldn't having 1/2 a piston massively damage an engine? I'm pretty sure it had a round number of pistons. I'm also fairly sure that it had an even number of them too (although You can make odd number pistons in an engine)

185 km/h according to my speedometer, but I can't know for sure because I topped it. It was 5am, in an empty 5km, slightly downnhill stretch of the Attiki Odos, the closed highway which connects Athens to the airport.

In that stretch of road, I frequently reach 150 km/h on my speedometer.

I drive a Toyota Corolla EE90, 1300cc. This car can't go faster than that.

          236 km/h (147 mi/h)on highway 13 in Quebec. And 278 km/h (174 mi/h) on a race track. Looking forward to hitting 300km/h someday.

Dude......You cant be serious. The guy is talking about hemispheric endings on the pistons, not how many there were. Even so, do you know any Camaro with more than a V8?

A lot of European cars use diesel engines, which are crap.

So it balances out in the end.

No, I was serious. I'm not a gearhead. When he mentioned pistons, I figured he meant cylinders. Generally all I know about cars is that up push down on the gas pedal and it goes...

How are diesel engines crap Asher. Is this opinion based on your large car knowledge?

Their pollution is far more harmful than gasoline pollution.

I always get a kick out of it when Euros blast SUV drivers for their poor mileage, when they drive Diesel-powered Golfs that generate pollution far more harmful to humans and the environment.

Here in Denmark that would lead to your car getting resummoned, to check that you had fixed the bulb. For this you would have to pay a fee of app. 20 GBP.

Asher, putting aside that diesel engines pollute more right now (But not for long hopfully http://www.californialung.org/spotlight/diesel_faq.html ) they are very reliable engines with lots of torque. Add a turbine and your have your self a very reliable and sporty car with low fuel consumption. Green diesel engines, if they ever get here should out-run any gas engine in any way. It's only lack is that it cant get to high rpms which is where cars usually gets the more hp.

Diesel that euros use is much cleaner than NA diesel. They have different sources for it.

At least that's what I remember reading in some Sci Am article a few years ago.

About 105 MPH on I-15 from Barstow to Las Vegas. In my 1988 Mazda 323.

Also drove the Virgin River Gorge in Arizona on U-15 going around 90. You have to have driven the gorge to truly understand.

I still believe it's a much higher pollution rate, there's 100 times more particle pollution alone in Diesel than Gasoline in North America.

Diesel is a heavier, thicker substance that goes under substantially less refining. It contains far more hazardous substances accordlingly.

I don't see why the diesel used in EU would be substantially better than those in the US.

As it stands right now, the average diesel car hurts the environment and is more harmful to people than gasoline. People are just misled when they see diesel cars get higher mpg, and assume that means they're more friendly to the environment.
