210-215 km/h with a Seat Leon (only once in my life, for "testing" ). I think the car could have reached a higher speed but i was enough scared yet. Incredibly i had to apart to the outside lane becuse i was reached and quickly passed by a guy with a convertible Mercedes.

In the state of Illinois, you have to get regular auto emmissions testing done... but only every few years.

Well over here you have an MOT every year for a car over 3 years old...they check all the important bits of the car: brakes, tyres, etc...and then they test emissions...my car had it's MOT done last week, no problems apart from a dead headlamp bulb...not too expensive fortunately

168 km/h near Alsask, Sasq., Canada.

There were no other cars, straight stretch, wide open fields for a hundred miles.

I have done just over 100mph before sustained, I have done that speed for large proportions of the M62...late at night mind you without a car on the road...hell that 116mph was done in my present car by not realising just how much more powerful it was than my last car. Slowed down when I realised the speed I was going. That was on the M62 for part of the Leeds-Hull stretch too.

135-140 mph in a '72 Mercedes Benz 280 SE 4.5 liter fuel injected double overhead cam V-8 (about 300 CI I guess) on a straight and long stretch of road early in the morning heading north from Crater Lake, Oregon. My dad was driving and my mom was freaking out as I sat in the back telling my dad to keep the pedal to the metal. She finally yelled out how a deer could walk out onto the road - the road was cut through a thick forest with our visibility limited to the road itself. The image of us smacking a deer at that speed and the ensuing jig-saw puzzle of body parts and twisted metal sprawled out over a quarter mile of road and trees convinced my dad to start slowing down... Man that was a great car!

The fastest I drove was 115 mph across the southern bridge over San Francisco Bay. I was in a '72 Gran Torino with a 302 CI motor that already had over 110,000 miles on it. That was quite amazing since it was a 4 door and the 302 was not enough motor for such a heavy car, but it got up to speed and rolled thanks to the gearing ratio.

I drove a 70s era Mustang on I80 and buried the speedometer under the dash board. The speedometer only went up to 90MPH, so I have no idea how fast that was. I have gone 55mph in reverse though

A buddy of mine back in Yorba Linda was clocked on the freeway by Highway Patrol doing 181 mph in a '67 or '68 Z-28 Camaro with a 302 racing motor with 11.5 or 12.5 pistons.

damn...88mph. My SUV starts shaking like a mutha past 70. I've only driven SUV's so I've never gone higher.

That, and I live on an island...there's really no "open" roads.
