I woke up about 15 minutes ago, went to bathroom and put my contacts in. The left one was bugging me so I took it out washed it well, then put it back in, it was bothering me even more. So I took it out, unfortunalty it slipped out of my hand and down the sink . So I got a new, opened it, put it right in, my eye was still bugging me, so I took it out and put it in my case. I then put a few drop in my eye to moisturize and clean it out, but it feels like theres a grain of sand or something stuck under my eyelid now, I looked under it and saw nothing. What can it be?

    Solution: Wear glasses.

Edit: I mean, I have a perfect vision so I'm not in a position to judge you; but why to use contacts? Have they any other positive effects than the supposed effect on how you look?

Yes, they dont get in your way, they dont smudge, they give you a full field of vision, and on -20 degree days they dont give your ears frost bite.

And I would gladly put my glasses on right now just because that one eye is bothering me, but Im house sitting for my sister and brother in law and I dont have them with me. Normaly if an eye bothers me I wear my glasses for a couple of days.

Sometimes if I put my lens in 'badly' I end up having an irritated eye for a bit. Now usually I am late for work anyway, so just leave it in and go to work in pain but it gets better after a bit.

The thing is if I irritate my eye then taking the lens out and replacing it doesnt always get rid of the pain. I guess Ive irritated it anyway, having anythingin there is going to feel bad

I've had this happen more than once, for no apparent reason. Usually I find that if I give the lens a couple of minutes to bed in the problem goes away. You also might want to check that you haven't got your lens accidentally turned the wrong way out - mine aren't reversible and if I get one in the wrong way round all sorts of things go wrong.

The first lens may have been damaged and have made a small scratch - find a doc and let him have a look.

VJ : There are a big diff between using glasses and lenses. You get full vision, no raindrops or dew on the glass, it's easy to get new lenses when your vision changes and it only takes a couple of weeks to get used to stick your finger in the eye

I wear contacts and yes, vanity does come into it. But so does ease of use, I have the type you leave in all the time and only change once a month, it's so easy I'm not even aware I have bad eyes anymore.

Um, you are going to completely destroy your eyes in no time. You are not supposed to have contacts in your eyes for more than 8 (or is that 12) hours a stretch, otherwise nasty microbes are going to start growing on your cornea.

From what I understand lasik surgery can only repair minor vision problems.

also with lasik surgery you run the risk of screwing up your vision even more than it was before.

This is an UM. The lenses are protected by the eyeliquid just as the eye itself is. Soft lenses comes in several types and the difference is how good they are to keep their moisture. One day lenses isn't that good to this - if you sleep with them you have to wait taking them out until they are wet again. Week and month lenses are much better (and more expensive) at this but you have to change from time to time due to mineral deposits from the eye liquid.
