Just get wireless connections and stuff the tower in a nearby closet. no holes needed, just an extention cord, assuming no outlet in the closet.

for instance. I cannot hear my computer at all right now. The only noise I hear is of my refridgerator compressor.

I also hear jets flying over head. Someone's car alarm going off right now.

Even my hard drive is really quiet. I think maybe I have a good case that isolates the noise and keeps it inside.

I just bought a PC. One of the things I wanted was, like you, silence. I was sick and tired of my laptop, who sounds like a hair dryer when the fan is working. So I got an Antec Sonata PC case. It was built for silence. I'm satisfied with it so far. Mind you, it's silent, but it's not absolutely silent. I can still hear the dvd-rom and the hardrive when they are spinning. But when I work, its whisper quiet. When I play, it makes a little more noise, but I don't care, since I wear headphones. If you want more silence, you can always get a Zalman CPU fan.

Can you get a wireless connection for the monitor and how much would something like that cost.

Unless his tower is in a desk or something, in which case it could increase the noise by putting the tower in the open.

                              my computer is virtually silent...

I've got an Antec TruePower 550W PSU, two 120mm fans, and one 90mm fan. My hard drives are both silent... a Western Digital 250GB 7200RPM IDE HD and a Maxtor 160GB 7200 RPM IDE HD, similar to the one Giancarlo posted.

The only noise my computer makes is during power on, my video card (Geforce FX 6800 Ultra 256MB) makes some noise, but only for a second or two. Otherwise, my system makes a very light humming noise. It's about three feet from my bed and I can often times sleep while the thing is running... like when I've got a huge download on usenet queued and want to get it overnight.

edit: the only problem with sleeping while my PC is on is the lights from the case... One the front of my case I've got a door that covers the power switch and drives... and the door has two blue LED's on it. Also, one of the 120mm fans has a blue LED that lights the interior of my PC.

I'd post a pic, but my digital camera is on the fritz at the moment.
To us, it is the BEAST.
