Contributing factor, but not entirely the case.

Many foreign students are avoiding the US as a choice for school due to recently-born fear of discrimination, and there is the longer-term trend of the rest of the world catching up to the US in terms of graduate schools (most dramatically in China).

So excuses are in the making already Ramo?
The EU is trying to play with the big boys which means competing with all countries, including China and the US. Those vaunted social programs cost an arm and a leg and merely train those Europeans who I have met who come to the US for the monetary opportunities not possible within the EU.

Once again, I must point out the utter uselessness and crapitude of arguments along the line of "well, I personally haven't encountered it, so it must be false."

I personally have never seen a Hare Krishna. They must therefore not exist.

I know that I wouldn't be here if I was of Arab origin. I don't want to spend my time ****ting my pants worried about whether or not I'm going to be shipped off to Syria on a whim.

It's not like there were two massive wars in Europe in the past century, or anything like that...
Not to mention that several of the member states of the EU were mired down as communist backwaters for decades.

Well I don't normally put much stock in blogs (especially ones that quote surveys!) that don't link to more than half of the stats they refer to anyway. Foible of mine. So, I'll have to join Oerdin in calling BS on that point.

The blog copied it from an article in a weekly (from Austin, oddly enough). Putting hyperlinks on paper doesn't quite work.

Ramo, I'm tired but I'll bite. Pick your stats source choice and I'll play. GAO, EU, WTO, etc. I graduated as a BSEE and I'll ply my training against you anytime without the ad hominem attacks. Show me your basis for your opinon an I'll show you a contrarian one.

By your logic I could claim 25% of Americans believe bananas are space aliens yet it must be true. That's about as likely as the bogus claim that 25% of Americans believe the sun rotates around the Earth. Especially given that I've already pointed out several factual errors and/or obvious omitions with this op-ed piece. The guys screwed up several facts and this one smells fishy too.

Ramo is too busy being a sell out anarchist working for the Man and accepting the benefits of an oppressive system.

I don't really care. When only one source is easily checked, warning bells go off for me that someone is either lieing or grossly missrepresenting their facts.

and I'm serious about the New York Times btw. I'm not kidding for once.

Take a look. The CNN stats are believable, the NYT ones aren't.

Riiiight. A free weekly should have an extensive bibliography, including hyperlinks for every minor point, regarding every single article. That makes perfect sense.
