    Are you all innumerate?
They're all invested emotionally in bad news. Personally, I think it's a mental illness.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The fact that Reagan was an absolute criminal compared to Carter has everything to do with this thread.

I often drink while posting but that doesn't change the fact that Reagan commited several felonies while carter did not.

Take it up with the armchair lawyers in another thread. This thread is for armchair economists.

oerdins right, reagan was a crook and he put our economy in the ****ter and he did nothing to stop communism and his only lasting legacy is the huge debt.

I just happen to remember the country before and after Reagan. You cannot put a statistic on what he did to benefit this country.
"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

Carter made the stagflation worse. Reagan ended it. That simple.

How anyone could say Reagan put the economy in the ****ter is defying statistics and pure facts. Lawrence is really nutty. Of course Reagan did a lot to bring down communism, he outspent them and forced them into military spending sprees. The US could afford it, the USSR couldnt'.

This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

And no doubt you will also sign the praises of Nixon who was without the biggest criminal to ever sit in the White House.
