Taking that into consideration maybe it's not a good idea to have a lot of pot running around.

I agree with Horsie that drugs should be regulated like tobacco and alcohol, not outlawed.

I knew a man who went on a murderous rampage after watching the Teletubbies.

                    They ought to be banned.

                      How was prohibition a failure?

It was a failure in the effect that people still wanted to drink, but productivity levels and sick days did go down. In fact several staunchly Republican areas voted for FDR because he promised to repeal prohibition.

About weed and alcohol. They were together if you smoke the weed after a night of drinking. Caps the evening nicely.

Pot isn't 'supposed to be harmless'.

Like water, sugar, wheat, shellfish, honey, dairy products, eggs and alcohol, too much can kill you, or make some people seriously ill in small amounts.

Aspirin can kill you. Penicillin can kill you. Tobacco kills more people than heroin, year in, year out. Caffeine and cheese and red wine can provoke crippling migraines in some people.

As a matter of interest, are any of you part of the growing majority of individuals who think smoking cigarettes is the most disgusting antisocial thing in the world and should be banned in all public places? Just wondering.

Legalising pot would mean ludirously high tax on it, so it would be more expensive. From a simplistic consumers point of view, I'd rather get it cheaply and illegally.

And yes, I know those 2 paragraphs are completely unrelated really, I just couldnt be bothered to post twice in one thread.

Why is pot prohibited when alcohol is not?

Well, put simply, the reason is that it's a "liberalising" issue. It's one of those little carrots that get dragged out to convince people that real progress is being made in the human race, while cleverly avoiding talking about all those side issues like how much tax money gets spent on weapons and how many torture implements get exported.

Put it another way - pot is a smokescreen. Establishments the world over would much rather the populations are docile and compliant - and hey, they can be prosecuted for being docile and compliant, that's even better, eh?

The reality is it doesn't matter a rats arse if pot is legal or not - people smoke it.

Personally I smoke it because I'm trying to stave off glaucoma and I know of no other medication that can help.

Certainly is if you puff enough.

It helped my grandfather's glaucoma, and I know of at least one person whose post chemotherapy nausea was combatted by judicious mary jane usage.
