Bricks are better- they don't get stained by rusty ironwork or corroded steel fittings, they don't change colour from grey to dark grey when it's raining
I agree with you until I saw Korean churches. Especially this one neo-gothic monstrosity in Suwon make out of these strangely-colored dark bricks with all kinds of strange crenallations and a big-ass ramp going up to the front door (the parking garage was on ground level as part of the church I believe). I can never thing of brick in the same way after seeing that

Korean church architecture has to be seen to be believed, so here goes....

The Yoido Full Gospel Church, the church with the biggest seating capacity in the world IIRC:

          inside:

          A very interesting Church:

          Skycraper, for JESUS!!!

          Kind of funky, but strange

          One of the better ones:

          The EVIL churhc of SATAN

          Stalin goes Churchy...

And some pretty run of the mill ones:

Hmmm two didn't come out. I think the EVIL Church of SATAN doesn't like me linking to them, so here's the image:

Oh one more thing I forgot about the churches, they're all lit up at night with HUGE amounts of neon in the most disgusting manner possible.

The only thing funkier than Korean church architecture is Korean Motel Architecture (huuuuge big business when just about everyone lives with their parents until marriage). I couldn't find any pics of the more garish ones like the one with the giant onion domes or the one with the fake battlements but there's some interesting ones here:

That's some subtle use of neon:

              Hmmmmm

Are the palm trees really necessary?

Now this one's kind of cool:

              Lets do TUBES

Yet more subtle use of neon

              WTF?

I think I've stayed at this one, Its near Vomit Street in northern Seoul. Those lighted thingies go all the way up to the top.

              That's subtle

              Yay! More tubes

              What's with the gnome hats?

Hmmm, think I've stayed here too
