a lot of people hated rock and want to bring back Billy Crystal?

    What are they high?

I like edgier comedy. Though Rock was a bit tame.

He offended Sean Penn though. Sean Penn came out defending Jude Law. .

This shows how seriously hollywood actors take themselves.

I'm glad to see that Rock somewhat recognizes the excess of America's obsession with celebrity.
      exactly

hollywood is too full of themselves.

Sean Penn defending Jude law because of what Rock said proves this.

Yeah, I'd like Billy Crystal back. At least Crystal was funny.

          Crystal isn't funny

Crystal is for old people. Or people who think movies are something special, and the stars need their dick sucked.

If you don't think Crystal isn't funny, then you need to get your head checked .

It's not that he isn't funny, he's old fashioned. There's a reason why the ratings are declining.

And those articles state how bad Chris Rock was. But it was the best rated show since 2000.

If it continued on the way it was going, the ratings would continue to decline, and once all the old people died off, no one would watch.

Yeah. Crystal stopped being funny years ago. And Rock actually made it worth watching. His monologue had me falling off my chair.

Rock was good, I liked the monologue better than other years, although I think Crystal is better at making quips during the rest of the show.

Come on. That quip about the "four presenters" was brilliant. He merely said what everyone was thinking.

And Sean Penn was such a loser, at least Tim Robbins and Jeremy Irons could take a joke.

I wasn't sure if I heard him right. He did say 4 presenters.

and I liked the drive thru oscars. I thought that was pretty good.

I didn't say his quips were bad, just not as good.

I thought Chris Rock was fine. I thought he was gonna get himself dragged off the stage at the beginning, for cutting a bit close to the bone with his "stuck with Colin Farrell? Wait for a star!" shtick. It was clearly a bit too personal for some in the crowd -- and I'm sure that was the point. But he saved it nicely with "Want Denzel but can only get me? Wait for the star!"

I doubt he'll be asked back unless he dials it down a bit. Personally, I think they should go with Queen Latifah -- a better fit for Oscar than Grammy.

I tuned in and out, missed lots of it. Was extremely pleased to see Jamie Foxx win. Didn't see The Aviator or Million Dollar Baby, so can't say if the results were fair. But it's starting to look like Scorcese will never win, and Eastwood can throw anything out there and it will be loved.

BTW, does anyone else think Scorcese is starting to look like a living caricature of himself -- or, worse, looking more and more like Eugene Levy?

I also had most of the top awards right. I liked the opening where Rock told Hollywood that it was out of touch with the people. I have long thought this. Although Aviator and Baby deserved to be nominated as best films, I think Spiderman II, Spotless Mind and Passion should also have been nominated. Then we really would have had an interesting Oscars with a lot of people watching who also watched these unominated, but very popular films.

Drudge is saying the ratings are the highest since 2000.

                              Meh!! I could care less.

I find it interesting Sean Penn defend Jude Law's acting ability but no one defended the fat joke aimed at Michael Moore.

Again, this goes to show you how over sensitive hollywood is about the work they do.

What's more important? A unknown actor, or an activist who can fight against a corrupt goverment (I'm exaggerrating Moore's importance, but you get the picture).

And Rock never said anything bad about Jude Law's acting ability, he just said he's not a star.

But Penn does not accept this.

I hate actors that are this way. They are so self important.
