Civ1(amiga1200) and Civ2(pc) do still get the odd play now and then, although if i'm feeling like playing something civish i usually end up prefering CTP2+Mods.
Civ is still a great game and it will never die(like man 'o' war songs )

I still play from time to time. I don't get new games often, so I have to stick with all the old favorites. Right now I'm playing this great WW2 scenario, and I'm conquering everyone as Finland.

I love civ, but it's hard to make it work on modern machines. I wish someone could make a program that would make playing civ 1 simple easy and reliable.

It took a while for it to grow on me, but its now by far my favorite Civ. I tried going back to 2, but I can't.
Me too, I thought the old graphics wouldn't bother me when I went back but they did, also I'm a great fan of the whole resourse/culture thing on Civ3 (ducks for cover)

I am a big fan of culture in Civ 3. I love having borders, and I love watching them grow. I enjoy the Civ specific traits, like the leader heads, and love the fact that there are Civ specific unique units. For my taste, there never was enough Civ differentiation in Civ 2.
I thought that the resource idea was a good one, and can really force you to make tough decisions at points.
I like how they've tweaked artillery to ensure that you can't simply conquer the world with hordes of Howitzers.
The main thing that I dislike about Civ 3 is that the AI civs don't seem to genuinely compete amongst each other. In the end, its always going to be Human vs. a multi-headed AI.

You mean you're not using the HiRes graphics patch for Civ2?

I occasionally play Civ3 (switched to Civ3 when it came out and never went back to Civ2).
Most of my playing time is for other games, however.
