Well, I would be game, if everyone would promise (Armstrong included) to post up their coporate planet listing ('T', 'l') for all to see.

I am curious to see just how many figs that Futurescape has, and what Armstrong and co have been doing with their turns.

I too am up for a rebang. As far as posting Futurescapes assets for all to see, I'll let our CEO do that ("Windstar" a.k.a. "Urban Ranger").

Hey fellas, great to see you all still playing.

I wouldn't mind joining a new game, but I probably wouldn't be an active player or anything.

Hey KT! Long-time no see or hear! It would be nice to get more players into the "play"!

Hey, welcome back King Thor! For this game, I was thinking of a much smaller universe (1000 sectors tops), a way to keep the number of dupes minimal, since Dan is a busy person, and low turns, so that anyone can play without spending their evenings slaving over the keyboard. =)

                  We didn't do much, really.

                  Will there be house rules?

Maybe we can ask Dan to appoint an Overseer, whose duty is to maintain the game and enforce the rules.

The Overseer will help those who got hit by game bugs, and crush violators Clearly, this can't be the same person who is an active player in the game.

                    Maybe Markos?

Actually, now that we all understand what ten deaths really mean, would this still be a problem? I would think that one of the active players (or maybe 2) could be responsible for cracking down on dupes, and we could still leave any bugs found to Dan.

Just a thought, I don't (obviously) know what this would entail, but if there's an easy way to delete traders, then I would think that could be shared around by some of the regular players. We could start a thread on Apolyton with each person that we think needs to be dropped, 1 at a time, take a vote/consensus, and then remove them and their assets.

While doing the complicated stuff like tracking IPs and such is more dificult, I am not sure that would be required. Your thoughts?

Oh, and my ideas for settings for the game?

1,000 sectors (maybe 1,500 or 2,000 if we get more real players)
default rob/steal settings, default planetary trade settings
                      3 traders per corp
10 deaths still works for me
                      300-500 turns per day
                      no starting planet
photons available from day 1 (since we know (somewhat) how they work now

                      Any other ideas?

Are you going to play with Ferrengi?

Hmmm, yes - We at Futurescape have noticed that you have been getting a LOT of practice with those photons!

On a serious side, I suggest:

                          1. a 1500-2000 sized universe
                          2. 500 movement points per/day
                          3. Ferrengi in play
                          4. No starting planet
                          5. 3-4 Traders per Corp.
                          6. 10 Deaths and your dead

10 deaths doesn't work, since a player can stay in a game as long as he's not totally dead, e.g. escape pod destroyed.

So we need use something else other than knockout, maybe most assets at the end of a fixed period, if the new game is still going to be a tournament, that is.

Alternatively, we could make it an open game in an effort to attract some new players, in which case we definitely need a way to enforce rules.

I reckon we need to tie the number of sectors to number of players we have. 2500 sectors to (at most) 8 active players is a bit much I suggest we set aside 200 sectors for each pre-registered player.

Which means the number of turns is tied to number of sectors. Say, 1 turn per 4 sectors? So 1600 sectors -> 400 turns. Sounds reasonable?

Port regen at 20% is about right, though planetary trade ratio could be set higher, 50% is a wee bit on the low side.

Hi Burbel, Wittlich. great to be back. I have a bit more time these days. However, I'll be leaving for a quick 2 week trip really soon, so I dont expect to be a major player. I really dont get as much time to play like I did before. (Hence I quit all my Civ-CTP games, and haven't even tried Civ3 yet).

Since I just wanted to hang around and add to the atmosphere of the game. (Games such as Trade Wars need a bunch of fun players to make it fun for every one) I could be the 'overseer'. Its up to you guys. I really dont think I'll have the time to play 400 turns every day anyway, so I'd never really become an active player.

How many people still play the game? If we still get about 10 active players I suggest 2000 sectors.
