  • As for the French merchantman north of Holland, the French government cannot be held responsible if individuals reciding within our country chose to endavour into smuggling
(Though we do get part of the profit from it as smugglers pay taxes like everyone else )

    • Yeah, Henrik. The mines are always the first pillagable thing, though. Do you actually get the dialog? I never got the choice.

Looks like the French are playing their cards close to their chest. More sensible, but less fun! Yeah, let's have a couple more rounds of war at least. As I started, you can finish. If I haven't taken Paris by 1775, I will probably be ready for a peace.

              • Further bombardment of Paris has led to a small but steady trickle of casualties amonst the defenders. No major assault was ordered this year.

An exploratory raid on Cherbourg showed the defences there have been put in good order, so while specialist fortress-storming troops are recruited and trained, our Generals have been casting around for where next to attack. The French cannot be strong everywhere!

Their very next raid showed that the city of Reims was lightly defended. A few old men and boys sheltering behind the old city walls put up a brave fight, but were soon overcome. Outriding Dragoons have also killed many French farmers near Dijon, in continuing reprisals for the French raids on southern England of '69 and '70. More mines were exploded and filled in with earth outside Cherbourg.

In fact, the old English tactic of chevauchee is coming back into vogue. If the French will not come out from behind their fortifications, we shall lay waste to their town infrastructure and countryside until they give us satisfaction for our many colonies stolen in the Great Banana Wars...

Already their coffers are bare, as they strip their economy to finance more troops.

In the New World, a raid on Labrador has been unsuccessful, and we anticipate little offensive action in this theatre for some while.

I get the dialog. Two 2194 games have died now because they've become unplayable without the dialog, and no one can figure out what causes them to sometimes just not work.
                      Unbelievable!

Wow. Bummer. I guess it's a Civ MGE undocumented "feature" then. I don't think this game will become unplayable, but all those fortresses sure look untidy....

                        • Yes, it's not a big deal here but the 2194 scenario had stackables. Btw this really makes me scared about Bonoparte now.

                          • Sorry for posting in a PBEM that I'm not involved into, but I want to test it! I think that can do a little hex-edit to look for the reason of this dialog to doesn't appear.

If you want to provide me with a link to a savegame with this problem that I can download, I will try a few things

Here is the Colonies 3.12 game where it is happening

                              Good luck!

Darius, don't be scared about Bonaparte! Pillaging is unlikely to happen anyway, but if you can't pillage without destroying the stackability - don't pillage. I have posted in the Home Thread about pillaging, although not relating to this particular bug.
