BTW if you guys ever need help finishing this one let me know. I love this scenario. Well I wouldn't mind helping as long as that warmonger John is nice to me.*"Winning is still the goal, and we cannot win if we lose (gawd, that was brilliant - you can quote me on that if you want. ...such a bad rep I have...
Steve, if you read the earlier thead (not sure if it was on CFC or here, this game has moved from home-to-home over the years!) you will see that I was arguing with Spain over the ownership of a few bananas, and got into a full scale war (which was cool) then got bounced by Henrik's French, who had a secret alliance with Spain. My ally Holland stood on the sidelines while I got my a*** royally kicked! (Although Chris was very helpful in the peace negotiations.)
Plymouth and Exeter fell in short order, and my Musketeers were routed all over the board. That was when I learnt (it was my first PBEM) that attack units are given extra bonuses (for some dumb and undocumented reason) in MP Civ.
Hence Colonies 3.2, where the musketeers are more useful, and there are no Ambassadors.
That's typical me, btw. If I don't like a result - I change the rules!

Sorry for the delay
yup, after the bananas affair this game has been a bit tasteless(we need a croissant conflict, a pudding assault or a tomatoe revolution

Anyway, to break the deadlock, England declares war on France.
I only chose France because I am allied to the Dutch (and they won't be provoked!) and Spain is a bit far away right now, with my Caribbean possessions all lost in the last war. Nothing personal Henrik. France will be the toughest opponent anyway I should think.
I have made no (successful) diplomacy to prepare for this, and you may all want to declare war on me and wipe me out as a rogue state! Fair enough. However, I HOPE you will either sit it out or take sides equally, whichever way you think would be more fun.
I have taken no hostile action against France yet, except to build forts outside Quebec and Tinconderoga. The one outside Quebec will probably be plundered away anyway, as I find I don't have enough units in position to defend them both properly. (You see, I have hardly prepared in depth for this - it was Manolo's comment that set me off!)
Oh, and I've taken the native settlement of Montagnais, and renamed it New Brunswick.
Have fun, guys - and don't expect Plymouth and Exeter to fall so easily this time....
