after a lightning attack the austrian´s border cities has been conquered,
we couldn´t tolerate Austrian´s attack to our ally Russia and his imperial invasionists plans in Italy

while we are waiting the English attack more troops are heading towards north france (what are you waiting for Henrik?)

we are trading with our ally the Spaniards to increase the amount of our treasure

News has reached our ear that the kingdom of Spain has declared war on Napoleon, the Spanish armie invaded through the Alps quickly capturing the city of Narbonne.
For some reason Spain want to fight this war individually though, they refuse to ally whit us!

Sweden signed a peace treaty whit Prussia and later on I managed to get Sweden to enter the war on our side!
Sweden has declared war on Napoleon, the king of Sweden who used to be one of Napoleons Field Marshals, Jean Baptiste Bernadotte, has entered an alliance a millitary alliance whit us!

I was actually quite supprised by the Spanish AI, it both declared war and managed to take a city on the same turn!
From a human player, I hope you had lots of units supported in that city Shaka

Appparently the spanish AI felt that now would be a good point to attack.
Unusually clever for the civ 2 AI I must say.

actually we were allied,
and if you want to go to narbonne you need to ignore control zones, and there were four units in narbonne, (not with a high defense level)

Actually you get to see which unit they used to take the city and it was some sort of cavalry (hussar?), if the units wherent good defenders they could take out the city whit at most two cavalry units...

Which it wasn't. I wish I COULD improve the AI, but then so does every Civ'er.

One thing that I have noticed about the AI while designing scenarios it that the closer to a "standard" Civ II game you make your scenario, the better the AI works. Which should be no surprise, really.

So all Civs being broadly equal in power and scope at the start is good, having a balance between exploring, colonising, scientific research and war is good, and so on.

Given that, I'm quite pleased the AI in Bonaparte does so well, without settlers or any really significant scientific research.

Just lucky, I guess...

A reason for this attack could be that the evil French broke his peace treaty with friendly Austrian so as good Austrian allies that they are, they have declared you the war
