I knew you knew I knew....

Here's a quote I'm seriously thinking to use as my sig. But I'm not sure if it can be proposed here because I don't know who said it since it is written somewhere. The question would be where is it written and why.

    HINC·TOTI·PAX·INSONAT·ORBI

Yes it's Latin. Some of you could think what a mindtwisted guy am I but it's really easy specially to some regular posters of this forum.

You should try to get it while it's still around, that way you could play along with us. Do you have the scenario? We can describe what is happening if you have that frame of reference.

Reading the latest posts to this thread a very intersting quote came to my mind. A bit exaggerated maybe, but very revealing of the Spanish religious fanaticism:

The victory at Lepanto was the greatest occassion that past or present ages have seen, or that future ones can hope to see

Now that things are working here, I can answer in the proper thread. Yes, it is Manuel of Portugal who is the letter writer. He was bragging about Vasco De Gama reaching India, while Spain had found only a few islands with primatives on them. Your up Waku. Oh, do you have MGE Waku? If so, I will send you my saves so you can follow the 'Modern era' game from Germany's point of view.

It seems no one wants to get a "nope " as an answer .

I don't mind, I have to know who the "hades" said that

    Manuel O Venturoso of Portugal??????

(I suspect you're gonna do it again cpoulos )

    Edit: smilies

Looks like this one was to difficult. One more BIG hint: I never said that the letter writer was from Spain, but he is an Iberian.

Who said it, and whom were they speaking to?

I've been searching really hard cpoulos but I haven't been able to find the quote. I could launch some more names at random but I prefer to ask you something first, what did you mean when you said they? Is it a shared quote? If it it so I wanna try again because of somenting I've found: In an extant letter to his son Diego, the explorer commended him as a worthy supporter. "I spoke with Amerigo Vespucci, the bearer of this letter, who is gone to Court on matters relating to navigation..."

Vespucci & Columbus (or his son Diego) to the Queen???????

PD: this is a nice link BTW:

Remember the tone of the gloating. The person who said it could not be harmed by the queen.
