Any conflicts within the Germanic areas shall be handled only by us, not you desert-people. Not that there WAS a conflict anyway...

      • Micha, I'll paste some more of the top of that map on. You can be the Saxons; you're welcome to give orders this turn.

Does that mean you will rein in the Franks?

          • Hmmm... Where is my army of New Recruits located?

            To: Iberia
            From: Arabia

Would it be alright if we had some of our elite guards watch over the University? They would be only ceremonial, and would show my presence in the joint-education center.

            • If by "some of your elite guard" you mean like 20 soldiers who stay at their posts, then sure.

              • Your new recruits are in Cetsiphon, in modern-day Iraq, between the Tigris and Euphrates.

                • Get all my armies in France ready for fighting--not necessarily imminent fighting, but prepared to defend our land. Continue working on all the same stuff--universities, joint university, a little bit of infrastructure and civil improvement (just a little--more later). Begin building that fleet! For those ships, we want Quality>Quantity. Sew discord among the Frankish chieftains: Recruit locals and any of our citizens that could convincingly fit in to point out to minor tribal leaders or aspiring tribal leaders how the Frankish king intends to expand his own power at their expense, use their youths to fight a war for his riches, will use the instability to eliminate any of his opponents, sew factional rivalry, that kind of thing.

                  • The Saxons

(Btw, can I have some stats for Saxony, please? )

Ambrus the Bold, a short but strong leader with red hair and many scars, crosses the forests of Southern Saxony with his fellow warriors. They are visiting the various tribes and villages to recruit more men into their ranks. War will come. The call of battle echoes in the woods.

The northern tribes have again violated the status quo with their frequent raids into Saxon territory. This time they will pay dearly.

Many strong men, eager to earn their ticket to Walhalla, join Ambrus´ group. They are wielding axes, knifes, Scramasaxes (short swords) and flails; Some have horses, but most rely on their feet. Altogether a mixed bunch of warriors gaining strength with every mile they travel. Slowly their path turns up north; Still recruiting, hunting deer and fishing, but inevitably approaching the lands of the Frieses...

                      • Continued recruiting shall take place, and the New Recruits army will move to Lyon.

Large sections of forest will be cut to make more room for farms, wood not used in the construction of these will be sent back to the nearest city for storage.

                        • Orders--
As well as the tax put on all Monotheists that enter and live the empire, the Iberian Muslims will now be allowed to enter the Empire, however, they must pay a tax equal to that of the People of the Book, which will be quite a significant increase of money when the yearly pilgrimage to Mecca. For the yearly pilgrimage, the Muslims will need to pay the tax in the nearest city, get a signed form, and present it when it is time to leave, to prevent cheating the Empire out of the money.

The Empire-wide road project will be started this year. All of the areas that are done planning will begin the construction of the road. If there is already a road in place, the workers are to improve upon it. There is an incentive for People of the Book to sign up to work on the road. Any monotheist that helps with the building of the road, will receive a 10-year exemption from paying taxes. The areas that are not done planning, should finish up, and start working as soon as possible.

Instead of bring the Jews to the destroyed Babylon, which was a mistake, we will bring the Jews to Damascus, which is their De Facto capital. There will be a temporary exemption from taxes for the Jews, to encourage them to come to Arabia. They are free to return to Judea if they so wish.

The new 1000 Heavy Infantry recruits in Ctesiphon will join the Third Border Guard near Trabzon. The 500 archers in the Army of Jerusalem will also go to the Third Border Guard. Also, the building of a wall around Trabzon will start. Encourage local people to help. The 500 War Camel recruits will parade around the core of the empire, showing off the advantages of joining the military, especially as a War Camel.

100 of the fastest, smartest, strongest, and most loyal soldiers will head over to the soon-to-be-built University in Carthage. They will be labeled as the "University Guard." They will be dressed in scarlet, and will where something over their face, be it a mask, armor, cloth, face paint, or something else entirely.

People will be encouraged to start their own private boat companies, that travel around the empire. This will increase the wealth of the empire, and will take away the wealth that the UMK is stealing from us.

The Mosque in Cyrene will be started now. To boost morale and productivity, the King will be staying in Cyrene, and will come to watch the building of the Mosque every so often. If the Mosque is completed this turn, the King will attend the first service.

                          • ahem. That many troops at the university is a no-no.
Obscured faces are also a no-no.
More like 30 recongizable guards are ok.

The obscured faces are only for dress. You will see them without it when they first come.

                              • There's got to be something in the Quran against that. Regardless, there will be no girly mask-wearing university guards in our city. You can have hats though. Decorative hats are always good.
