Mexico has decided to stack her mighty stack of chips behind the Confederacy for the time being, until the Union can come up with a realistic, nad scary enough threat.

Mexico has, after a long and twisted internal struggle, elected a leader that all but the 3% of anarchist teenagers who are just rebelling to piss off their parents approve of.
Supreme High Commanding Leader and Overseer of Decision making and Prresidenciary activities, Juan Kerry, was sworn in on Monday to the Jubilation of all but the stupid rebel teenagers who don’t know any better.

Juan Kerry has made it his primary concern to support the confederacy until it seems to no longer benefit Mexico.
Until then, Juan Kerry has begun massive country wide programs to build up the education and military defenses of Mother Mexico! Borders are being fortified and heavily guarded, as are the towns themselves. Citizens are being recruited to either work in the Mexican fields and Mines, or to become soldiers/ police for the Commie Haven of Mexico!!

Here’s a threat for you: We’re no longer at war with the confederacy, so if you attack us we will, so to speak, wipe the floor with you.

General Union activities: All the crap that the Confederates are trying to do, we’re making a point of doing better. And stuff. Yeah, cotton and textiles. And steel. Railroads…steam engines…looms? Steam powered ships. Coaling stations. Whatever, leave it to the merchants.

The Confederate States propose a Trade Alliance between the North and themselves.

Basically its our way of saying, no hard feelings lets be pals.

We offer this same sort of deal, with extremely lowered tarrifs, to any nation interested in recognizing us.

Mexico would like to, be let in on this new trade deal. Come on guys, we're all on the same continent, can't we be friends and trade and all of that slap happy stuff?

Juan Kerry, after having a very in depth conversation with reality, has decided to wage war on Rainbows!
The Mexican Arch minister of Anti-Rainbology was quoted as saying, “Rainbows, the bane of my existence, and ultimately a metaphor for all that is terrible and wrong with life are no longer a part of Mexico. You spend your whole life chasing after the gold, but it isn’t really there. Lie to yourselves as you live in offensive bright colors, but that is not what the world really is, the world is dark, and painful, not happy and joyous. The only “joy†you ever experience is actually just a state of neutrality. A temporary relief from the terrible drudgery that is this miserable existence is all that you cling on to. Fool yourselves with your Rainbows and your religions, you life is a lie, and so are rainbows.â€

            OOC:

I know this is a bunch of crap, I’ve just been too busy to actually plot anything yet, but I will get something a little less spammy in a couple of days here.

The Confederate Ambassador to Mexico was present at the speech, and decided to write home about it.

              Excerpted here:

"... but I mean, Rainbows? The leader of Mexico is evidently not in the best state of mind for matters of state and is only really capable of accomplishing anything through simplistic means, for instance he sees that a trade agreement would benefit him and so he wants to establish it. Personally I do not reccomend doing so and I also reccomend limiting trade agreements to more established nations. Were Confederate factories to begin establishing themselves here in order to gain the advantage of the tariffs they could surely find far cheaper labor and thus force the Confederacy into economic troubles. This would not be as much a problem with nations such as the United States of England, where labor is prone to be equally expensive."

              And then he signed it.

USA agrees to trade alliance with CSA (but not abolished tarriffs completely, of course) In particular we are offering protection to textile industries, but within the limits of the new trade agreement.

                  Welcome 1889

Mpande kaSenzangakhona is coronated as king of the Zulus.

I will post orders as soon as I finish killing all the wives and offspring of my predecessor.

Just like in any other modern nation, politics is hard work.

OOC (All that black stuff in central Africa is Zulu? You gave us part of the Congo too. I'm not complaining, I just wanted to make sure. I was thinking of conqering it all anyway so all those people can benefit from the King's guidance.)

                        Zulu

Recent victories added huge new territory to the Zulu Kingdom. The king decides to enlist the recently conquered tribes into his impies. This will break the power of the tribal chiefs and foster national cohesion, at least in the army.

With a nation that now spans from sea to sea, defense of the new acquisitions cannot depend on the army alone. With lucrative trade rights of slaves and ivory the Zulus acquire a fledgling navy, and a few mercenaries to man them, from the Ottomans. The Zulus work hard to master the alien environment of the seas and it is a slow and difficult process. Mpande, like his half brother Shaka, is eager to learn new things. He studied the ships he purchased from the Arabs and attempted to imitated their design with woods from the Ituri Forest in the recently added region of the Congo.

Ooc: can we list all of the countries colors in their country profiles? That would be cool.

                          BIC(Back in Character):
Juan Kerry and his allies in the newly formed MFA (Morgan Freeman Alliance) have announced the creation of Alliance goals. In order for the Alliance to have a greater sphere of influence on an international level, the countries in the alliance need to rise up from the crap hole that they currently are.
The nations of the MFA are cooperatively sharing their resources, and manpower to collectively and individually increase the quality of their military forces, and their level of technological comprehension.
In order for this to happen, all of the nations of the MFA have increased the amount of power held by the central government. With this newly gained power, the central governments of the MFA have placed an acute focus on their educational, scientific, and military programs currently in effect, and even more of a focus on those which are currently being planned and put into action.
The MFA would be happy to stimulate its economies, and would like to extend a friendly gesture for trade between all other nations and the MFA.
