Okay, I've cooked up an introduction to IX... all that's left is to finish detailing the empires. I'll post the rules, for some feedback.
Modified Imranian Rules for Story Threads (Originated in Earth 3000, refined in The Utopia Project)
1) Hugeass empires are NOT allowed. I want to have this relatively balanced, people, not a demolition derby where Mr. Technology tramples over everyone else.
2) Tech progress is SLOW! Meaning that I don't want to see anyone's second post be something along the lines of "X nation finds Y device in ancient ruins. The inner workings of Y are instantly deciphered. All who oppose X are no more."
3) NO NEWS REPORTS! Suriname news reports have always left a bitter taste in my mouth after reading mounds upon mounds of propaganda in them. So think of some other way to release information, something somewhat more original.
4) NO REVOLUTIONS! To explain this further, Nation X could not unilaterally create, fund and train a revolutionary group in Nation Y and take over the entire planet. In the same vein, Nation Z could not rise oot of a revolution and become a world-spanning empire in the space of five posts. Revolutions will only be accepted if they happen in Nation X and are written by Nation X, or if they are cleared with me.
5) No Unrealistic Fleets I feel I have to put this one in for people who like to push the envelope. Put simply, I do not want to see posts which are simply lists detailing war production, fleet rosters, army manifests, or anything like that. Outcomes of battles will be decided by the moderator (probably by a roll of the dice). And there will be no billion-ship fleets ravaging the Earth, Imran.
6) War is Secondary *GASP!* Yes, you heard that right. Something in Suriname happening other than war! Who would have thought? Try it! You'll really like it!
7) Two Against One Yep, this old rule. One empire cannot simply steamroll over another and come to victory. To achieve anything more than a stalemate, it must be two against one.
