        Headlines in Der Spiegel:
Spartan Northern Army Group Captured, Paris besieged, Spartan forces in retreat:
The German Army, in a spectacular and daring maneuver, has encircled Paris and the entire Spartan Northern Army Group. The Spartan forces have been all but destroyed in the north. The survivors have taken up refuge to defend the besieged and now totally encircled city of Paris. German forces are preparing to bombard the city with artillery and attack with medium bombers unless the city surrenders. The Spartan Center Army Group has been another matter entirely. Though badly mauled and continuously bombed by the Germans, the Army Group Center has fallen back on a line between the towns of Vichy and Bourges. The German forces from the Third and Fourth Army Groups are moving in pursuit, though they face considerable partisan resistance. With Army Group North eliminated, considerable forces have been freed to continue the offensive. The First Army Group has advanced to a line west of the cities of Lemans and Caen. All of Brittany is open to the German forces. The Second Army Group has been diverted for the siege of Paris and is not in the field. The Germans and their allies have gained virtual air superiority over most of France, though scattered SAM launchers still harass the German warplanes. The Fifth Army Group has been diverted from the Russian border to help finish off the Spartan main force quickly, and end the war.
        -Bombings continue in Norway.
-Last batch of four of the Bismarck-class Missile Battlecruisers finishes trials.

Stuff that would not appear in a newspaper (and that you do not know about):
-Germany awaits delivery of Russian submarines.
-German submarines put to sea again for unknown destinations.

Off the Irish coast (you all do not know about this):
The dark shape of a Typhoon class nuclear powered missile submarine broke the surface. Over the next hour, under the cover of darkness and a satellite window, large amounts of equipment, ammunition, shoulder SAMs and Anti-Tanks, and explosives were taken ashore. Such deliveries had become more regular of late.

        Dispatches from the Foreign Office:
        To the CW:
We wish to buy 48 B-52s, 600 F-18s, 600 F-16s, and 600 F-15s. Or, if you would prefer, we are willing to purchase the rights to produce the planes ourselves.
        To Chile and Argentina:
Your belligerent, aggressive, and malevolent foreign policies appall us. Merely changing your governments cannot change the evil ways of your people. They must be taught a lesson that they will not soon forget. The world frowns upon terrorist nations such as you.
        To Russia:
We need our submarines very soon.
        To Britain:
Little birds should be careful where they sing.
        To Italy:
Congratulations on a successful campaign. The NSF is all but beaten. We request a conference for determining the post-war settlements.
        To the NSF:
We will soon have a treaty for you to sign.
        To Ireland:
Terrorism is not the act of a civilized nation. It makes you appear like Chile and Argentina. Enjoy the new toys. May they only be used for defensive purposes.

                Operation Iberia

Landing in Portugal came Corps I-V. Artillery support was not needed, but was transported there to perform a flank on southern Spain as Corps VI-XV came in on western Spain and southern Spain. A completel flank of the country has begun. Artillery bombarded Lisbon and Valencia. Indian forces marched into central Lisbon with minimal resistance. Most of the NSF forces had been caught in France, and destroyed. Tanks rolled into Valencia as southern Spain was caught off gaurd by a mediocre surprise attack. Madrid is now being shelled, but has not yet been taken.

1,000 Spanish guerillas took the hills, all but 250 dead from the constant ring of artillery.

When the Indian bombers have the go from Italy, the outskirts of Madrid will be bombed if the city is not yet taken.

I have been informed it is really APRIL, not JULY, please update your calendars.

                        April 13th, 2001

                        Raw map available here: http://www.multimap.com/wi/853.htm

The battlefront had finally arrived in Hammerfest, Norway. Red Army command had reported that the USSR army was preparing to make a final stand. General Petrokov was given the task of total destruction of the Scandanavian army. Most of Russia's efforts outside partisan battles were focused on the remaining army.

389,000 men under my command. A Peninsula and 5 islands contains the remnants of the standing Scandanavian army. Our German friends did well in forcing the last of them into this peninsula just before our armored columns sliced through the mountains. Like the British at Yorktown and the Germans at Stalingrad, there is no escape.

59 Scud launchers pulled up along the shores of Bors and began launching their payloads onto the adjacent island. Following their voley were hundreds of mobile artillery pieces brought up recently. By dark, the Russian army was advancing.

The first action was seen outside Komagfjord, where Russians met up with Lisovite commandos. Fighting was intense and ended only with the arrival with 14 Hind helicopters. 1 Fell to a shoulder launched SAM, but the others were fast to react.

Armor support rolled through the Stabburs valley near Lakslev as tankers kept an eye on the hills which were being cleared of enemy presence by helicopters and helicopter-lifted infantry. They were well aware of the monopoly on armor that Russia had and it had carried them slicing through the Finnish countryside in the past two months.

A few miles to the North, Russian paratroopers were deploying outside the town of Gamvik. Some were accidentally dropped into the sea by accident. Those troops were rescued by a passing Victor III submarine. 4 Victor IIIs were passing into the channel that night to help in bombarding tactical targets.

Within an hour, Breivikiboth and Hasvik had fallen. It was apparent that the USSR army had no interest in this Island. Artillery pieces were being ferried in by helicopter for bombardment of Hammerfest.

                        ==-=-=-=-=-==
                        April 14th, 2001
                        ==-=-=-=-=-==

In the early morning hours, Russian helicopters and paratroops captured both islands southwest of Hammerfest. Hakkstaben housed some Lisovite soldiers that were quickly dispatched by the elite paratroopers.

In Borselvnes, The USSR army was putting up a sustained fight. Their lack of armor was hurting them though fighting against an army that could make full use of superior armored forces. The T-90 was experiencing its first battles against troops and other tanks and succeeding beyond it's designers best hopes. On the outskirts of Borselvnes, the husks of 14 T-72s and 32 T-55s sat burning. The Russians paid for it with the loss of 4 BMP-2s and a single T-80U, which ran into a mine. 1,500 Russian casualties had been suffered taking the town, and hundreds of Scandivnavians were found strewn about on the hillsides.

As the sun came up, 5,000 Russian marines were landing outside of Repvag. They had sailed late the previous night from Lebesby in Norway.

During the morning, the USSR army was begining to collapse under the weight of Helicopters and a combined mobile infantry and armored attack. By Noon, the cities of Kistrand, Repparfjord, Revsboth, and Snofjord.

A 4 regiments wer sent to secure the area around Brennsvik and ran into a large lisovite encampment. The battle raged on for the rest of the day and two more regiments had to be brought in to bring it to a completement.

As dusk was beginning to settle, Russian forward observers noticed USSR sodliers from Naeverfjord and Kvalsund pulled out. The soudn of thunder could be heard as sunset approached. It was not apparent what had happened until Russian forces made it to the area around 9 p.m. The Scandanavians were attempting to make a fortress out of their island and of Hammerfest.

The Russian airforce was concentrating on the little island and old Tu-95 High flying level bombers were making hourly raids on the island, dropping tons of high explosive on the surrounding hills. Su-24s were sent in to drop guided high explosives on buildings in the town. Systematically, the city of Hammerfest was being leveled.

And perhaps with that, the hopes of USSR sovereignty..., General Petrokov thought.

"Communications, send this message to our friends in Hammerfest: You have 24 hours to decide whether you wish to surrender or that you wish to die."

Later that night, 5 Oscar-II Class submarines pulled into the German port of Kiel, advisors stepping off with large packets of information on how the submarines worked.

We are interested in buying 20 M1A2 tanks. We are willing to pay $5 Billion, and would be happy to pick them up ourselves. We must iterate that these be Chobbam armored models. We would also be willing to pay $7 Billion for 2 B-2 bombers.

                        To: CRME

You discussed the possiblility of giving us Chobbam armor technology for rights to buy the T-100. Have your allies consented to this yet?

                        ===Elsewhere===
With a budget allottment of slightly more than $100 Billion, the re-working of Russia's vast rail system was coming along at a steady but amazing pace. German engineers had dilligently replaned most of the critical bridgeheads and redisgned the system from Moscow up. Trans-siberian lines would be replaced so that their maintainence would be ten times easier and cheaper. They were also being designed to ferry at super-fast speeds of nearly 140mph for Cargo and passengers.

The T-100 project has been delayed yet again until September. Problems in aquiring chobbam armor were blamed yet again, however, technicians are refining the fire control technology with the extra time. The system is designed to have the fastest rotating turret in the world, and importance is now being placed on that first shot being lethally accurate.

Um... i hope not by sea transport..., that's like sorta impossible... And don't you guys think you are rushing the thing abit? France is a powerful country and seeing it dissolve in 2 months game time is unrealistic. Do it like Hans does, bit by bit, to give Spartan a chance.

15 months? And in Manila, a port which IIRC doesn't have a dry dock capable of building a carrier. Now if it only takes 15 months to build a carrier, I should have two new carriers by now shouldn't I?

A huge inter-tunnel complex in the northern borders of the Empire has been completed and has been manned by the Tibetan Guard. The Tibetan Guard is being seiged by American forces from the CW in a huge wargames exercise while the CW and Imperial navies go at it in the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea. China's airmen are gaining much-needed experience after dogfighting with their American counterparts in the same planes (ie: I'm having my western planes fight the CW in wargames)! and on the ground, Chinese Abrams tanks go against American ones (My Abrams tank is the Korean version of the M1A2, or known as the K1M1).

Imperial troops are also engaging in war games with Iraniaq in the border between the two nations. Troops that are already there will participate as well as troops from inside the Empire.

The Imperial military's ranks are swelling with new recruits from new provinces. These new recruits are from fairly poor areas of the Empire looking for a better life in the military. Steps are also being passed in the Imperial Beauracracy to fund many public projects all over the Empire. The actual forces of the Empire now number 5,000,000 (I'd been recruiting since the beginning of the thread) with most of the forces being infantry. 10,000,000 reserves are also in the ranks (my reserves are only this: trained for 2 months, given a weapon, sent home). The National Militia of the Empire still has their number at 300,000,000 (don't worry, this is real crap. People who have 2 weeks of training, then sent home. It could have been three years since their training, they're still in the militia)

Elections are being scheduled in Korea in two months. The competition is between the incumbant, the former leader of N. Korea, and three other candidates: a socialist party representative, a conservative party representitive, and a democratic party representitive.

The first of 6 planned AEGIS cruisers leaves port from Guangzhou. The next ships are planned to come out at 2 week to one month intervals.

Three divisions have set sail (not on landing ships, just converted tankers and barges) for German Africa and will reach within two weeks. These troops are not part of the First Expeditionary Army, now known as the Dragon's Fire, which are still continously training. The Imperial Guard is also contiously trained. They are the best of the best in the Imperial Army (the Imperial Guard is). The next elite troops are of the Tibetan Guard, which are relatively equal to those of the Dragon's Fire.
