Update tomorrow guys (hopefully), but no guarantees. I had planned it for today, but things I needed to do in RL kept me off yesterday.

Also, I'll give you guys fair warning: Once I post "Update started," I ignore everything from then until the update.

      NPC DIPLOMACY

      From CSA
      To Great Britain
      *Secret*
      Sure!

      From Russia
      To Great Britain
We're willing to get Alaska off of our hands, since it's been nothing but a burden to us. Since you could better take care of it, and since we need the money, would you like to buy it from us?

      From Japan
      To Germany
      *Secret*
Of course! If your actions will divert the Russians from Manchuria, that would be very helpful to us. And if the British intervene for the Russians, you stand a very good chance of recieving Hong Kong as our little gift to you, if you get the idea.

ooc:You should be persistant on your updates...And actually set aside some time to update...I believe that the only some of the NES's on this site actually last more than 1 or 2 updates unless modded by people from CFC (Staznes)...Maybe it's because people from this site have too much to do?Or maybe they don't give a poo?Well..Either way...Tip for the Mod...Don't keep stalling updates...It makes players loose interest fast, and I'd like to see this NES live a while

I'm not stalling; I did plan to do an update today, but I couldn't get on yesterday. I will try to do my updates about 3-4 days apart, though; that was my intention from the start.

Dear friend and northern neighbor, as you noticed the pigs who run the Ottoman Empire and their British lackeys have declared war on us, we would like to know if you are interested in joining the war by our side against the Ottoman Turks, that way you would be able to take revenge of the Crimean War as well and finally get yourself a port in the mediterraneum.
We thank the Russian wise leader for the attention, and wish you nothing but prosperity.(/secret)

[secret] We are willing to split Alaska 50-50 between our nations, after all, Alaska should belong to the US, and we don't want to tie you up in the north when you need to defend your frontiers. Surely you do not want to allow Britain to become stonger on your border?

May we organise a pan-Asian trade route between our two sovereign states?

                  Tokyo Daily News

The Emperor has appointed General Monopolyman as his economic minister. Mr. Monopolyman has used his financial prowess to promise the Japanese people that the Navy will soon be able to afford guns rivalling that of the British Navy, and will have developed a new ship called an ironclad. According to Mr. Monopolyman, this will improve the Japanese navy to "a high-tech industrial age".

In unrelated news, sales of Japanese flags went through the roof in time for the Emperor's visit to Yokohama this Wednesday. Hirushimi Nagasini said that JapanFlag's profits would "be up 400%" for this financial quarter, driving the economy up to a "profitable" state.

                          UPDATE April 1881

                          North America

The United States has sent troops to defend its borders against Confederate attacks. However, the CSA has made no effort to make any major offensive operations against US forces. In a private talk with Commander-in-Chief Gen. Thomas J. Jackson, President Longstreet stated, "We must not be made out to look like the aggressor if we are to get England and France to join our cause."

Lieut. Gen. James E. B. "Jeb" Stuart (CSA) has begun establishing friendly terms with the Apache Indians in northern Sonora. He is attempting to use their mutual hatred of the US to bring the Apache into the Confederate fold.

Both the USA and CSA are making patriotic appeals to the citizenry to swell their ranks. Many new recruits have joined up on both sides.

Minor Indian raids from Confederate Indian Territory have wrought some havoc along the border, as they have for decades. However, as there is now a state of war between the USA and CSA, the Union forces are allowed to pursue them over the border and retaliate, which they have.

The US has imposed a naval blockade against the CS in an attempt to cut off its trade to the outside world. Already several ships have been searched, and those bearing munitions destined for the Confederacy have been turned back with said munitions confiscated.

The Mormons are becoming a bit unruly up in Utah Territory. Gen. John Pope (USA), military governor of Utah, has emplaced restrictions to counterweight this.

                          Europe
Due to the fact that it is still recovering from its recent defeat at the hands of Germany, and that there has been no official declaration of war by Britain against the USA, France will remain neutral in the American conflict "for the time being."

The German Empire has recieved naval blueprints from the US and is in the process of upgrading its navy. Using some of these plans, it has also begun work on more of its own ships fitted out with new technology.

                          Asia/Middle East
Ottoman invasion of Persia! Turkish forces have attacked Persia. They have taken some ground, due to the unexpected lightness of Persian resistance. However, they have been forced to withdraw after recieving news of...

Persian raid on Iraq! The main Persian force, mounted on swift horses, struck deep into the heart of Ottoman-controlled Mesopotamia. Though little real damage was done to either side, the raid has disrupted Ottoman strategic thinking and morale.

Persia has recieved military hardware from the Austrian Empire. Due to the lack of industrial base, it will take a while before the Persians can produce their own, but they are working on it.

The Ottoman navy has defeated the Persian fleet in a naval battle in the Indian Ocean and forced it back to port. A naval blockade is being imposed on Persia.

Japan has begun to expand its economic base. It is building more industrial and commercial facilities within its borders and is sending more traders to other countries.

China has begun to expand its military out of fear of both the Russians and Japanese.

                          Africa
Africa continues to be relatively peaceful, with the occasional supression of a native uprising here and there.

                          More to come.

                          South America
Peru and Chile have declared war on each other over the Arica border again. Neither side has made any real gains (or done anything but exchanged cannon shots).

                              Tokyo Daily

The first ironclad has hit the waves after a mass patriotic effort in a Kobe shipyard this week. Named Yukisama, after the Emperor's son, it marks a milestone in Japanese naval history.

Also this week, Japan farewells the Floyjusima division of the Emperor's army, fighting the Ottoman enslavers in the middle east. The Emperor's Military Advisor, Hujitsu Turonika, spoke at their departure, and awarded the crew a collective Cross of Japan medallion.

Finally, in business news, the Japanese munitions industry, buoyed by the heroes on their way to the middle east, have begun researching new armoury, most notably a 60mm rapid fire field piece.
