  • Geocities Maps fix!

Ok, here's a way to fix the Geocities map problem:

Replace the "www" with "fp" such as:
    http://www.geocities.com/dipplayer/map.gif becomes http://fp.geocities.com/dipplayer/map.gif

It'll work! Thanks to Gibster for the tip. How did you find out about this?

I actually found this out as well while in DotW.

It was funny how I found out, though. I tried FTP, to see if that works (FTP is the standard upload device of many sites like these), and I simply forgot the "T." Amazing how things work out.

Does anyone know exactly what the problem seems to be? I can clink on links from either format 'www' or 'fp' and get maps to load from both my own work and that of others. Ocassionally a map will not load, but if I renter the text it works, but 90% of the time the maps come right up on the first try. Furthermore, when I send a link to someone via ICQ or e-mail, they have no problem loading it up. Perhaps this is an Apolyton or a message board related problem? does anyone know? AOne more thing... what exactly does 'fp' stand for?

Leave it to a smart-assed Pollock to come up with the answer I was looking for.
