Is there any way to get a saved game map to save as a bitmap that is accessable in paint?

Well, I know there's a program which turns the map into a bmp. If I only knew which...

The program which turns the map into a bmp is "Bitmap 2 Map" made by Giganti Byte. It's available at http://civ.cx/

The utility program BMP2MAP, as its name implies, only converts bitmaps to maps. It does NOT turn maps into bitmaps.

That depends on what you need it for. If you need it for some kind of an overview to make your game easier or something it's not really feasible. If you just want to change the map in the game, tough luck. Otherwise this is how you could do it (for now): Open the savegame in the mapeditor and save it as a map. Get the MapUtility (to be found in Apolyton's database) and convert this map to a PCX file. This file can be opened with an image editor, changed and saved to any image format your paint program supports. The colors used in this PCX file will be a little weird... If you're not in a hurry, wait a little while, until my "MapEdit" comes out. That program can save maps to and from convert maps to bitmaps and vice versa (you will still need to convert to a map first, though).
