  • Nice units, Stefan! I think I may use some of the Sassanids in my scen.

    • Thanks, please do so. I might even have a couple more sitting in some forgotten graphics file...

      • S.H., Your Iranian units are a fantastic contribution to the Civ II world. Where can I find the scenario for them?

          • Stefan, as our resident Persian expert, I was wondering if you could help me out with something in my Roman scen. The Persians have a happiness wonder but I'm not at all sure what to name it. The period is Sassanid Persia, 268 AD, so its too early for the Ctesiphon arch and AFAIK too late for the Hanging Gardens. Something connected with Zoroastrianism would be great, as the wonder is Mike's Chapel; was there some central temple for Zoroastrianism that I could use?

And to make this post less of a threadjack; perhaps if someone could point me in the direction of some appropriate icon graphics for whatevers suggested...

            • Let me propose the temple complex of Takht-e Solaiman (the ancient name was Adhur Gushnasp), this was propably the most sacred spot for Zoroastrianism in Sasanian times. Another idea could be Naqsh-e Rostam, but I don't think that one really made anyone happy (except, maybe, the Kings)

              • Hope I don't confuse you there... there are several types of spelling the name, I picked the one that I think to be the most correct. Another very popular one is Takht i Sulaiman... I'll check for some sites.
Here's the only pic of that thing I actually have. I remember the Iranians having built a small replica of it along with the palace of Darius the Great in the Expo2000 in Hannover, so, if you're too confused, I think just creating an icon showing a pool surrounded by brown brick, or simply a flame/fire icon based on those on the reverse of Sasanian coins is fine enough. Of those icons you have there, I think the last one of the central row would be the closest fit.

                  • Atropatene.

But if you really want to highlight the importance of this area, place it in a new city representing Adharbaidjan.
Maybe you could also rename Atropatene into Gilan, that would be more accurate; but I don't know what your map looks like, so I can't say much there.

                    I like the icon BTW

                        • 2. Are there any miscellaneous criticisms? The Orthodox city style has some decent domes for a change.
I think that you should swap the biggest and second biggest cities in the cities at the top - that big church makes the size 3 city look bigger then the size 4 one.
