  • I need playtesters, too!

Some of you might already expected that this would come sooner or later through reading and posting to my questions on the civ2 creation tread. I finally got around to place barbarian cities where necessary, I will add more though later.

To give all of those interested an idea what the scenario is about here a short description:
There are 7 civs in the scenario plus the barbarians.
There are Venetians ruling the seas,
Latins in Greece and the Holy Land making the live of Byzantines miserable,
Epirotes more or less there where modern day Albania is,
Trapezuntines on north-east turkish coast only alive because of their geography,
Byzantines(Nikaens) in western turkey struggeling to stay alive against the ruthless onslaught of Latins and later on Ottomans,
Serbs there where the Kosovo begins all the way north the river Save
and, of course Ottomans who have just settled down in the vecinity of modern day Ankara fleeing from the mogol hords.

The Byzantines are very much interested to regain their lost Empire which the Latins have captured with ease. The greatest disaster however was the lose of Constantinople to the Latins. Venice wants to control the trade routes with the east and the Latins generally hate everything that is either muslim or has anything to do with the Byzantines. You can probaly imagine that there wasn't any time in which there has not been a war in the region...

I replaced the terrain graphics to more beatifull ones and also added changes to the recources to reflect the east meditarian landscape. I have drawn 52 brand new units! Every civ has certain units that are unique to it and every civ has a slightly different technology tree. The pedia has been extensivly amended( I'm still working on the details). Also I made slightly new City graphics, changhed the icons.gif and a lot else.

BTW, I still have to pick a good name for it.

So, interested? Well, no short description after all...

If so post here and I will send you the preliminary scenario within a few days.

If there are any questions about it, please ask me!

    Hello, Hendrik.
With all the great help you've been giving me with my scenario follies, I feel obligated to playtest yours. It sounds pretty interesting, and you say you drew all the units YOURSELF?? Hmm, send it over, and I'll take a look at it and give some feedback.
sigs are for fools who havent said enough!

I'll playtest yours if you have a look at mine (see "playtesters needed" thread)

It's my first scenario so I really need some feedback on if it's any good and what might be improved (except for throwing in the trash can, that is )

And by the way, you gave me the idea of making a scenario in the first place.

Mercator, you've got a deal! I will download it right after I'm finished here. I will send you my scenario as soon as possible.

I gave you the idea of making a scenario in the first place? When, if I may inquire?

Btw, your antarctica map with the new terain and so looks really great! You want to see a scenario on it? Wait till summer!

Allard, of course you may playtest it! Again, I'll send it to you as soon as possible.

So, now I have four people...
More volunters or should I stop now...?

Great! I was already thinking about sending you an email to ask you. So, how are you doing?

I will send it to the other email of yours. Not the hotmail thing.

Btw, for anyone interested. The scenario requires Fantastic Worlds (FW).

                    Alright. Civfan, count yourself in.
I think that 5 is enough. No more needed.

Do you mind if I solve that little problem of mine with it first and then send you the scenario? Because otherwise it has no real use testing it anyway.

I hope to get it right until the 10th of January. That's when school starts again for my.

In the "scenario making steps" thread in the Civ2 Creation forum (?) posted by ottok, you (and Cam) gave me some help in creating a scenario. I was in trouble with two scenarios I had been trying to create, and you pushed me to get used to scenario-making by doing less big things before jumping into the deep rightaway.

                        Mercator,

I'm delighted you've achieved what you set out to - although I'm sure Hendrik would agree that you pushed yourself to finnish (sorry - must stop that).

For those unfamiliar with the thread; apolyton.net/forums/Forum4/HTML/000561.html

At the end of the day you've got to remind yourself to have fun or at least develop a sense of pride in the scenario you're authoring. There are so many aspects to scenario development that you can usually afford to spend time on areas that you particularly enjoy and you'll find the rest falls into place with greater ease. It's easier to get the difficult and problematic stuff done later on when you can see the Finnish line ahead.

(This, of course, coming from someone who hasn't followed his own advice!)

Aha. That was quite some time ago... I'm glad I could help!

BTW, did you get my scenario I send you?

You will get a more extensive report about your scenario in 2 or 3 days.

Yes, Hendrik, I received your scenario I played it just a bit yesterday... I'll send my comments over in the next few days.
By the way, I'd love to see a scenario on my Antarctica map. If you need any ideas, I would be glad to help out.

Cam, of course I pushed myself to doing this scenario, but without you two (as well as Erwan, the creator of most of he unit-graphcis), I would probably never have made this scenario.
