The best world map is under construction right now! The Multiple Linked World Map Project (MLWMP) is a four map set for ToT. It will use the round/overlap technique developed by Mike Daumen which allows a unit to move off the east edge of the Europe map onto the west edge of the Asia map, etc. The artist-cartographer is Jorrit Vermierien. He has placed an outline (coastlines only) on the ToT forum.

Visit Jorrit's Civ page. He has very good maps, including true-to-scale world maps. It's in Apolyton links.

Go to CivII World Maps and then look for Mercator Earth under Maximum Maps. After a tiny bit of editing(like giving Egypt some fertile land and stuff) it's an amazing map.:-)

Or if you are looking for something less conventional you could go to Mikael's CivII Page and get GeoPol.:-)

But the main criticism still stands, that from San Francisco to Japan is 14 squares of ocean, and from Washington to Lisbon is 18. The Pacific Ocean takes up almost half the surface area of the world, but has never been accurately represented in a world map.

The best world map is the one by Jorrit Vermeiren. You can download it at his homepage (Fantastic Worlds). The link should be here somewhere or I can send it to you.

Oops, I meant I am going to be MAKING a scenario.

And I tried D/L ing Joritt's map, but it wouldn't work.

If someone could send it to me at IFORGOTHOWTOTYPE@HOTMAIL.COM , I would apperciate it greatly.

It's 26 in Geopol:-), but everything south of the Bering Strait is way too wide(If one draw a line from Tokyo to Hawaii and from Hawaii to Frisco one will get a right angle).

The Mercator download won't work, and that I can't stand maps which place east at the top of the screen and stuff like that? Jorrit's page wouldn't load? Perhaps someone could mail me a good map before I start on world.mp?

Oh, and BTW, where did the Nemo get the map for 2194 days of war?

My page couldn't load because SidGames was down. It's back up again: http://civ2.sidgames.com
I think my page has the two best world maps available (my map and Mike Strong's 'Mercator Earth').
