A huge siege of Paris then took place, with continuing operations involving the new republican armies, plus extensive guerilla warfare in eastern France. When the republic agreed to peace terms with Gemany, a communist revolt took place in Paris (the Paris Commune). This was bloodily put down by French troops, while the Germans watched. Then the German Empire was proclaimed at Versailles. Not quite so simple.

Wasn't Napoleon captured prisoner after Paris fell?

No. It was Louis-Napoleon, known as Napoleon the Third, the nephew of the real Napoleon. He was captured when his army was trapped up against the Belgian border, at the Battle of Sedan. The Seige of Paris began afterwards.

The way I was thinking the scenario wouldn't necessarily have to be small in scope. Rather, it could be all of WWII for instance, with lots of simplification.

A simple 'Axis and Allies' type WW2 scen might be fun...

Small map, major cities representing whole nations, and only using the well-known units.

              Could be fun!

Well known to whom? 90% of people probably know that those things with tracks and a barrel were used in that war thingie and 80% probably know they were called tanks.

Tanks, infantry, aeroplanes, battleships. Maybe fighters and bombers. By chance submarines and aircraft carriers. Perhaps artillery. What else is there?

30x35 round map (half the surface area of a 40x50 small map), download it here. When using single player usually starts with up to 5 civs (even if you choose 6 or 7). Works quite well, good for a game in one sitting.

For use with plain vanilla Civ2.

The first minimap scenario project will be a post-nuke reconstruction scenario called "Day 2". In this map, nuclear winter has occured, turning plains into tundra, and forests into desert. No grassland, forests, swamp, or jungle remains. Parts of the ocean have frozen over.

You start as one of six powers (more to come) with a handful of large but shattered cities, no military units, an empty treasury, and 18th-19th century level technology. From here the game proceeds like a normal Civ game. Notable difference is that the 14 ancient and renaissance wonders are replaced with new ones built using modern techs.
