I tend to agree with RobRoy. I believe that listing as many scenarios as possible is a good idea. It helps make our case stronger. Also like the idea of having two lists in one (designers plus ALL their works in one column and scenario lovers in the other).

          Anyway,

          No Spanish Civ
          No MP
          No scenarios

Conclusion: Civ3 really stinks. Unless they find a remedy asap, Civ3 is gonna become the flop of the century.

Well, I´ve had the chance to... erm... look at Civ3. I´d never thought I´d say this, but I really am considering not to buy Civ3 (until a patch is available). Civ3 runs slow (so I´ll have additional costs for a PC upgrade, and I´m not that wealthy), civ3edit is buggy, there is basically no scenario capability to speak of, the map editor is very lame (even worse than the civ2 one), and maps CANNOT be larger than they could be in civ2 multiplayer/test of time (also see my rant here: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...8&pagenumber=2 ).

Sure, the AI may be superior, but if that´s the only improvement over Civ2, I see no point in buying it. I´ve hardly played ToT yet (never finished a game yet) and I´m only playing at Prince level or so in Civ2, so the Civ2 AI has enough challenges left for me.

I haven´t played a Civ3 game yet though. There is a chance Civ3 will grab me after all.

No scenarios yet, just art work (units, cities, etc. check: http://www.geocities.com/fiera_com/civ2 ), but LOADS of hours of fun with the scenarios you all have made.

Hmm, I may have to come out of Civ II retirement. I had been waiting, in vain apparently, for the great new Civ3 scenario capability.

                        It gets worse

I just read on the Civ 3 General forum that aircraft can't sink ships! How the hell are you suposed to make a post 1939 scenario if the game engine is set against such a basic tennet of modern war?

Critical. I guess when you gain something, you lose something too. I know planes perform bombardment missions, but if they can't perform these against naval units, I'm a little baffled. They can do it against ground units, so why should naval units be an exception?

I just got my... erm, hands on the game, and while the game itself truly ROCKS, if performance-wise a little sluggishly, I bet we won't see good full-blown Civ3 scenarios for a LONG while. It's simply not built for it. There are a number of good points, especially the cultural, diplomatic and ressource concepts, but also a lot of major letdowns from Civ2. But it IS a superb game in its own right.

Thanks all. I'm just back from a couple of days in the City of Cows (Calgary), where, as I feared, I couldn't get the dialup to work on my laptop. I'll try to move this all over to the Civ3 General forum sometime tomorrow, including everyones sigs so far. Others can then continue to add their names after that.

ps. Jesus, I am going to stick to 2 named scenarios, to keep it simpler, shorter and so I don't have to do a bunch of extra research. I'd like to add "and 3 others" or whatever the correct number of released scenarios is. How many for you? Also, if you have a civ related web site and want it listed, let me know.

Also, it'd be very helpful to have the sigs of designers of past scenarios. Alex M., Harlan, Capt. Nemo, Mr. Temba, Mike Jeszenka, John Petroski, Giant Squid and many others, if you're checking in, please help us out.
