    Re: Thanks so far

Currently, I "cheat" a bit here, you receive only a text message about Hastings and its importance, then in the eventschange follows...
You could give the British a technology that makes all the British units obselte and allows the construction of Norman units (perhaps combined with the use of leonardo's workshop [eg rename it Norman conquests, and make it dirt cheap to build])

Good ideas, but I´m afraid I´m running out of unit slots for this. And a change in gouvernment would be nice, but the AI will be probably too stupid to change it exactly in 1066, and a Human player would only change if its fits into his current game. But thanks anyway, I will think over the entire 1066 thing again...

If you need an effect that will be fairly universal, then it's probably best to add Mysticism or Theology (if you feel that Norman rule was positive), or make the English happy-wonder obsolete (if the reverse is true).

IIRC, the Saxons fought almost exclusively on foot, so it may be appropriate to reserve the ability to build cavalry units 'til after the Norman invasion.

          Time for a big bump

I had not much time to work on the scn in the last weeks, but now it is better

Apologist, nice idea to forbid cavalry for the english before 1066. I´m not sure that I can implement it, because the tech tree and the work on the units is very far, but I´ll definately try it out

The question today is: What should be the victory conditions? Currently I think I create objective cities (as in v1.0) , but only one-point-cities (for the MGEers) and just a few of them, and none of them in western europe. If I create only cities like Jerusalem, Cairo, Damascus, Constantinople, Cordoba etc. It would be quite a challenge to capture them as a German, French or English player...What do you think?

Alternatively, I could it make a simple "conquer as much as posssible scn" - but I like the objective system more.

I was just wondering if you were going to start another project for Civ2 after this since Civ3 seems to be a bust as far as scenario making goes?

I still have a lot of ideas for scns that could be realized with civ2, and currently civ3 has not much to offer for us scn makers, so perhaps I´ll make more scns in civ2...

                  A little update...

I´m happy to report that the German version has entered the playtest stage

                  Some details:

The initial part (played as Germans/HRE) is harder than in v1. I had money problems, and I was constantly under attack (the events work very well ). After I secured my borders, and established a better form of government, I built up the empire. Attacks still happened, but were easier to repulse, now I can look forward to my first conquests...

I found less problems than I thought, so two German testers will join the party this week. As soon the German version is nearly "bug free", I´ll make the translation...

Below a little screenshot, with "alpha" gfx

Edit: Oh, and yes, I know there is a spelling error on the pic...
