It would also be very unrealistic to have Northern and Western Europe full of cities, because most of the cities at that time were only better market places. In the 10th century only Italian cities were generally a bit bigger, but even Rome was much smaller than to its best ancient times.

Many of todays cities in central europe were founded later. Perhaps I will place another city here or there, but generally you´ll not start with a big empire - compared with the Arab civs or Byzantium, most European powers were weaker in every field.
Fair enough. Its stuff like that makes me very glad that I wasn't born in the dark ages

Hmm.... maybe you should consider three different event file sets, one for playing each of the three european civs. Use that to create units for the other two in the Holy Land and get the player to ship his own units by himself. Could work. That or I'm mearly crazy due to sleep deprivation.

            Sounds like Canberra today
(the Australian Capital Territory the only Australian state with legalised prostitution & sex shops, and all the federal politicians are strong supporters of the 'industry' )

I'm not kidding... in XII century a Pope wanted to ban them from the city; so a cardinal said it was impossible to ban almost the half of the population, 60000 persons. The Pope renounced.

PS Bernd, do not use today maps as a referrant to stab people's number in cities. Italian population and demographical distribution has changed a lot ...

And I hope could get away this time without making three separate sets...
However, in the end your suggestion may be the best solution - but also the most work

Well, Prom, would you say the demographical changes in the last centuries have improved the situation in Rome (whatever "improve" means in that context)?

Just uploaded a small preview at http://www.civ2000.civ2.gamigo.de/en...000preview.htm

It has only some other screenshots. However, more in the future...

Awesome!!!! But Philippopel shouldn't be Plovdiv?

PS Bernd, on shot number 3, plz Crotone instead of Cotrone.

                          Damn, you´re right

I have it from an historical atlas, it shows Croton/Kroton on ancient maps, but the medieval map I used shows Cotrone - must be a printing error... Will change it to Crotone. Thanks for the hint

However, Philippopel is displayed on several maps around 1000AD, so I´ll keep it.

                              Questions....

Is it possible to change the color in the window titles of civ2 (see pic), and if so, how?

Also, do you think the border background is too colorful (=confusing)?

And finally, I hope the Spanish civers do not lynch me , but I decided against a playable Spanish civ. I agree it would be nice, but it would cost me too much time and redesign work...

Don't worry, I won't, as long as you make Córdoba as great as it was in 936 AD.
