Is there a strategy page or FAQ for this scenario?

I know this has been asked (and answered) before, but can someone please give me a run-through of how 'Choice' works and where to get it; I now have a Win XP computer (batch files don't work, curses!) and I can't run Second Front or Red Front without manually copying the necessary files.

        CHOICE.COM?

Download it, put it in the scenario folder and the batch file will work fine

What do you want to know exactly?

I'm sure there was a thread that mentioned hints, tips etc, from both Nemo and Xin, but I can't find it anywhere.
It may've been lost when the AoW forum disintegrated.

I've never played Second Front. How is it?

Started it once, it looked way complicating

Thanks Jasev. For some reason I thought that things were a little more complicated than this. I thought that the batch file itself had to be edited as well. So, as I understand it, I just need to place choice in the second front folder and run the batch file as normal.

              Apologies to Michael for threadjacking!

No strategy page or FAQ that I'm aware of, but I did manage to unearth an old thread where it was discussed.

                      That's it.

Trouble is, CHOICE.COM was a DOS command file that Win XP didn't include.
The MS-DOS mechanism is simple: first, system looks for the file in the current folder. If it can't be found, then system looks in the DOS default folder (c:\Windows\System32\ in WinXP). If you put the CHOICE.COM in the scenario folder, it will work fine. And you could also put it in the System32 folder, thus you won't have to copy it to every scenario folder.

So there's another con against WinXP for civ players.

Are there any windows-based tools like choice.com around?

Batch files are DOS-based... choice.com is basically a program that can let you make menus in DOS.

                          A Windows-based version of choice.com wouldn't make any sense.

If you want something Windows-based, you should be using Windows scripting (i.e. JavaScript or VBscript) not Batch files.

I'm currently using Visual Basic to build the equivalent of Batch files in Windows. It's quite simple, actually.

Yeah, the point was if there are windows programms for those scenarios!
