        Ottomans, Venice, Sweden, and Brandenburg.

Yes, I usually prefer playing the mid-size powers.

          Ottomans are far from mid-size...

It's mid size as in power, not vastness. But they are actually close there too...

Well, Ottomans starts with only a handful of provinces.
Aren't you thinking of the Mameluks ?

(what's the joke with Velocyrix playing Lorraine ?)

I think He's made a thread about his Lorraine game once?
Or/and claimed that lorraine is the best, because it has both German and French culture?
                      hm...

Sweden, as someone claimed (I don't know) is enough big, has good strategical position, and a lot of good generals.

He's been known for his great love for Lorraine since EU1.

Akka: No, I think of the OE. Having few provinces does not disqualify for great power status, it's the easiness and especially the potetial that counts. OE is one of the easiest countries to play in EU2, you are almost doomed to become a great power with it.

Sweden is a major power in EU2, especially with a human player the helm.

England is a good nation to play as, but the island status means you can't get the contiguous territories bonus (or rather non-contiguous territory penalty)

There is a 10% income penalty for territories without land connections to the capital.
