I'm in a "Very Hard" 1.02 game as France right now.
I beat the original Axis of Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, and Spain within about 3/4 a year. Germany's war in Poland gave me numerical superiority on the Western front, and it was only a matter of time till their armies were encircled and destoryed. Though mountainous Austria and the Sudetenland was rather annoying. I moved onto Italy afterwards, and conquered them soon enough.
Then I declared war on, and conquered the "Paternal Autocratic" Baltic and Balkan states (since I apparantly, sometimes, have dissent-free declarations of war against them). Then I conquered fascist Portugal. Then PA Siam.
In '42, I was itching to get in a war with the Soviets, but didn't quite have numerical superiority, and I needed enough juice to cross the entire Soviet Union. But I realized the Soviets were at war with the Axis. So, I decided to declare war against PA Persia to force them into the Axis, and therefore draw the bulk of the Red Army South. The gambit worked, and I subsequentely declared war against the Soviet Union (albeit with a hefty 40% dissent penalty). With at least a 3-1 local numerical superiority, not to mention a huge technological superiority, I was able to destroy their entire garrison, and take the entire Soviet West pretty quickly. And I beat off the re-inforcements which were suffering from lack of supply (given that I occupied the Soviet supply centers), annexing it eventually.
Then, in '44, I decided to take out Japan, which had swallowed China. Landing a couple armor groups with a couple tactical bomber groups supporting them, I was able to eventually take them out given my technological lead. China was harder, though. Meanwhile, I noticed Finland went PA, so I conquered them with my relatively paltry Western garrison. Japan surrendered eventually, with myself gaining basically everything but their smaller pacific territories which went to the US. Then I conquered the PA Carribean (Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic). Then PA Argentina. Then PA Brazil.
Now, in mid '46, I should get nukes by the end of the year, and am building up a huge V-2 stockpile (my manpower is limited since I'm France, obviously, so I can't afford to build limitless panzer divisions like the US can). I outnumber their armour at least 3-1, but they have way more infantry than I do. It won't be a pretty war...
