i played as the mameluks and released jersuleam but whne i go back to the scenario picker screen its not there when i click on the saved game and look at the shields.
Did you right-click on the shields to get the whole list of countries? It should be there.

Weird... I've done that myself, and I was able to find it... You DID save after the release of the vassal, right?

When you select your save game, rightclick on your previous nation shield (in this case mameluks) and scroll through the list and select the new country you want to play as. Then play.
Then you
1) haven't seen close enough, or
2) haven't saved after the releasing of KoJ as a vassal.
I see no other possibilities right now...
