The Civ games are a lot better IMHO... especially since you can get jealous of neighboring cities and actually do something about them (ie. nuking them) rather than just bulldozing the road you made to stop your citizens from going to some AI controlled city you can never actually see.
I'm not conceited, conceit is a fault and I have no faults...

Civ and WoW are my crack... just one... more... turn...

Maybe a nice game would be SimCity meets Doom, where every 20 years you get to run a Doom mission into another players city and see how much infrastructural damage you can do before the police force shut you down.

May be a little hard to market post Sep 11, though.

Or be the godzilla/ufo, that would be cool. in sc4 you can control your disasters and have neibouring cities you control

How is this controlling neighboring cities going to work?

We could even call the "Doom" part of the game is called Grand Theft Auto.

Damn, I hate it when it can't find the page, and thereby it erased the 10 pages (...almost... ) text I just wrote...but here it is in short:

              SimCity is good because:

It's so relaxing (Just sit back an enjoy the show, if you're too tired to change the city by your self )

For those, who don't know the official SimCity 4 page: http://simcity.ea.com/simcity4/new/new.html (Go check it out, it's worth it...)

And for the (maybe) release date for SimCity 4:

This space is empty... or is it?

SimCity 4 is looking great with their building evolution system and there changes on roads.

But does anyone have an idea how controlling more than one city is going to work?

I've read, it should be something like The Sims...

Personalize your Sims (or take your favorite existing characters from The Sims) and place them in your city--they’ll give you feedback about how to improve their world.
Experience life in the big city, from mellow traffic flow to commuter hell, noontime crowds to nighttime calm.

oooh! I've always wanted to be able to live in my cities!!

Drop a disaster anywhere in your city--set buildings ablaze, pelt your metropolis with meteors, unleash a twister, or wreak havoc with a volcano.
Populate your terrain with animals that graze and roam … and sometimes stampede into your city!

                        need I say more.

these are just a few of the cool new things! I want it, I want it now! I'll garuntee you that I'll be the bastard who gets ripped off for buying it when it first comes out! screw waiting for a price drop!

ooh! and did you look at the screenshots!? Oooooh! Eyecandy, much much eyecandy!
                        [/childish quick talk]

Looks like the fire fighting is going to be more difficult. no more saving the metropolis with one fire station
