I agree, although I've been "anticipating" it for 4 years now.

Best game: Starcraft takes the cake

Worst game: Dark Colony...oh God, it's awful

Best bargain: probably all my isos , picking up a legit AoK/Conqueror's for $10 is up there, though

Biggest ripoff: $50 for State of Emergency...thank God for ebay

Most disappointing: Streets of Sim City...sounded so much cooler than it was

Most surprising: Heroes of Might & Magic IV...especially after they iron out that goddamned memory leak

      Most addictive: easily Diablo II

Most overrated: Final Fantasy VII-X...this is coming from an RPG fan, no less

      Most underrated (and unheard of):

      Strifeshadow

      Good times

        Hey Os,

Just curious, how long have you been playing and when do you expect to finish?

How does the game handle drop-outs?

Does combat resolution revert to tactical or strategic?

Do you know that the new gold version touts MP?

I started the games last month... I don't know when it will finish but I've just started making first contact with people in the past couple of weeks.

I'm not sure how it handles drop-outs, but I believe that the AI will take over untill someone fills the spot (doesn't neccisarily have to be the same person)

Combat is always strategic, and the turns are usually played on simultaneous mode.

          I'm playing the gold version.

              Just wanted to ask why?
Deus Ex is on my 'best of' list.
I never got it to run with any decent resolution on my computer, arrow keys didn't seem to work, from memory it was very different to any other game I have ever played. After trying it I shudderd and went back to Duke Nukem 3D. I haven't tried it in a year, but I have been very mindful of the fact that it is the one game that I have had problems running on my P3 800 w/ 256RAM, GeForce 2 32MB etc etc.

I certainly didn't give it justice, but then again it wouldn't testify.

I absolutely loved it. I played it forever with my brother and friends. One of the very first worthwhile multiplayer experiences of my life.

ToeJam and Earl III has just been announced for Xbox, and it'll be based on TJ&E 1 and not 2. October 2002 it's due out. Can't wait.

                    MULE!
That was a REAL classic, though it wasn't really cheap. Paid about 60$ for it in 1982.
I read an interesting article about it, but I forgot where that was ...

Worst: OverLord. What a hunk of junk. "Defeat Kill-Or [or whatever], the ultimate Bad-Guy, in a galaxy consisting of 32 planets! Build up a massive trade empire between your various planets, which are conveniently located on a straight line! Oh yeah, and you're only allowed to possess 32 ships at a time because we have this odd obsession about the number 32, so when we say 'massive trade empire' we actually mean 'two planets, since that's the sum total of the number of planets you'll be able to populate with only 32 ships at your disposal.' And when we say that Kill-Or is the 'ultimate Bad-Guy,' we actually mean that he can only control 32 ships as well, but that he starts out with an army that is ten times larger than your maximum population. Weep at your defeat, pitiful human!"

Oh man, I had almost forgotten about that truly awful game. The horror, the horror!

Hey Loinburger, do you also remember how the "Ultimate Bad Guy" always knew exactly what you were doing - when you first built your ships, armies, etc. and threatened you each time. And how the AI NEVER needed any food, minerals or energy for their planets and always got rid of your food, material and energy machines when they conquered any of your planets.

                            My list:

                            Best games: Civ 2 MGE
Honourable mentions: SMACX, MOO series, Diablo II, Age of Kings

                            Worst game: Overlord
Dishonourable mentions: Birth of the Federation and Emperor of the Fading Suns

Best Bargain(s): Civ 1 - $4 - I rented it from a gamestore and never removed it from my hard drive

Worst Bargains: Civ 3 Limited Edition ($60) (hopefully the expansion restores my faith) and Lords of the Realm 2 ($40)

                            Most surprising: Fallout series
Most disappointing: Railroad Tycoon II Gold

Worst Genre: Duck Hunting Games (thankfully I avoid them)

                              Most overrated: Civ 2

Most surprising: Myth: The Fallen Lords

Most boring: Sword of Vermillion, though Dune 2000 did suck big time too.

Most unusual: The Residents Present: Bad Day on the Midway, if you can find it, it is the most original rpg ever.
