Feel free to make up your own categories.

However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

I really ought to get around to playing planescape one of these days... That was also my main beef with Baldur's gate, although comparitively speaking it is still quite non-linear compared to most CRPGs, especially the second in the series.

M.U.L.E. is one of the all time best games if not the best. Here is a website that is dedicated to the game.

M.U.L.E. stands for multple-use labour element, and the thing looks a bit like one of those big-arse walkers from The Empire Strikes Back. The game itself, however, is totally non-violent. Up to 4 human players can play the Atari version and 2 on the Commodore 64.

I will leave the exact description of the game out - I am sure you can find it on the website. The game itself is one of excellent design. All the elements are tightly woven. There is no surefire strategy to win. All apporaches work. Also, there is no clear winner most of the time, Flip flop can occur in one turn.

What is the most outstanding feature, however, is the players must cooperate to win. That's right, they have to compete yet cooporate at the time time. Cut-throat competition will cause everybody to lose.

This is the game I used to play almost every night during my undegrad years when school was in progress. The good thing is you can conclude the game in an hour.
