  • Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 rumour

Be ready for the imminent announcement of Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 which is going to be in 3D plus you will be able to ride the rides, not like Theme Park World though, as this will be realistic 3D. This is one of the things that Chris Sawyer is rumoured to be working on.

The other thing that Chris Sawyer is rumoured to be working on is Transport Tycoon 2 - probably a similar deal to the above.

If you are interested in where I got these rumours from, I'll provide you with a link.

        RCT3D?

I don't know if I like the sound of that! I loved RTC, the BEST tycoon game that have ever been made, but I'm not that sure about the 3D part, I always thought 2D has always been the best way to do tycoon games, but on the other hand, this time it is CS who will be making the game (I'm talking about making game in 3D, incase you missed that ), maybe he can do something revolutionairy to the 3D part in Tycoon games, I wouldn't like to see RCT2 end up with graphics like Theme Park World or Casino Tycoon

If somebody someday will find some screens please tell the link, that way I can say if I'd like to see it in 2D or 3D

But for now I'm positive about it, afterall it is the sequell to the ultimate tycoon game

He should of stuck with the graphics he has always used - they can't be beat for that type of game. Unless done very well, 3D graphics will completely ruin it.

That said, I'd really like another transport tycoon - heck, just an updated version of the first correcting the problems with it would be great.

Roller Coaster Tycoon was nice, but I don't like mandatory scenarios.

Yeah, I really hope they get rid of the scenarios, it was boring to have to go online to find some cheat to be able to build all rides and to win the game so you don't have to play the scenario their way...

            I want a "free" game...

              Gripes about RCT.

And why didn't the game have a random map generator? Since he had one for Transport Tycoon it would've been pretty easy to implement one in Rollercoaster Tycoon.

I hope the queue-building problem for rides gets fixed too, that is the moment it touches a main path the queue automatically "connects". To get the queue just the way you want it, you have to rip out the main path and put it back in later after you've got the queue the way you want it. Annoying.

While we're at it, having to manually remove trees before plonking down a ride, particularly a big rollercoaster, is a nuisance. It should happen automatically, perhaps with a warning about the extra cost of removing the trees and whether to still continue or not.

Also, have placed a rollercoaster, there can be a struggle to build clear entrance and exit paths as you suddenly find pylons in the way. It's hard to see in advance whether the ride is going to work in that spot.

Creating/editing rollercoasters is also much more fiddly than it should be. In this regard, Theme Park World is superior as it is so much easier to build rollercoasters in that game.

I don't have any clue, but I really hope they will. And also to be able to buy all land on the map, instead of having a huge map, but the park borders can't be expanded or can only be expanded little

Oh yeah, and maybe they could also make those queues half the size they are now, this means more queue in the same space.

Can only agree on that one, go figure why I never had trees in my parks, I always chop down the trees when I have nothing else to do (and wasn't tired of chopping)

But i disagree on that one, the theme park world way of making them was too boring, it can't be done much better than it is in RCT

If we are listing the problems...

I'll tell you what needs to be fixed in Transport Tycoon - these fixes, and maybe some updated graphics would make me happy enough.

                  1. Random map generator creates very messy and spastic maps, with no real common sense.

                  2. Helipads can not repair helicopters, it must be done at an air port hanger. (I don't remember, but I think you have to build the helicopter in a hanger, too)

                  3. Airports should be able to be expanded to have multiple runways and/or helipads.

                  4. Stations in general should be able to be expanded, currently the only one which allows you to do so is the train station.

                  5. Buses and Trucks often get into 'traffic jams' and are unable to move with out player intervention.

                  6. The change over from railway to monorail or maglev should be easier, and not such an annoying task.

                  7. The A.I is quite dumb, and never poses a real challange, and can easily be taken advantage of.

                  8. More variety of vehicles would be nice.

The new game will feature a number of improvements on the original, including more types of roller coasters and rides, a new ride creation system, new shops and stores, new park themes, and a scenario editor.
                            ...but no mention of 3D
