Sounds like it might be more like a sophisitcated add-on or enhancement to the original.

Re: If we are listing the problems...
I've yet to see any random map generator for anything produce "real" maps. TT did okay. I'd like to see a better feel of distance, i.e bigger maps with more space between towns. Really make it feel like some distances are worth flying.Originally posted by Osweld
I'll tell you what needs to be fixed in Transport Tycoon - these fixes, and maybe some updated graphics would make me happy enough.
1. Random map generator creates very messy and spastic maps, with no real common sense.
I think it makes sense helipads can't repair, but a heliport with maintenance facilities etc would be a good addition2. Helipads can not repair helicopters, it must be done at an air port hanger. (I don't remember, but I think you have to build the helicopter in a hanger, too)
Absolutely. The small/big airport wasn't flexible enough.3. Airports should be able to be expanded to have multiple runways and/or helipads.
Agree again, but preferably without as much 'sprawl' as before. Having airports and stations larger than the towns they served destroys the look of the map. The town are already too close to each other. When you can't find a single spot for a large airport once you hit 1970 because all the countryside is overrun by railroad is infuriating. Having roads expand from single lanes to dual carriageway and motorway would also be welcome.4. Stations in general should be able to be expanded, currently the only one which allows you to do so is the train station.
Those jams are probably the only thing that stops me playing the game these days. Everything else is bearable.5. Buses and Trucks often get into 'traffic jams' and are unable to move with out player intervention.
Nice idea.6. The change over from railway to monorail or maglev should be easier, and not such an annoying task.
True, it could be harder, but I'd be reluctant to make it so hard that expansion had to be perfect or a clickfest to keep pace with them. Just making them plan their railways more efficiently would be a huge bonus. I do like 'flagging' whole lines across the map to keep them at bay and watch them trying to nose round for a route7. The A.I is quite dumb, and never poses a real challange, and can easily be taken advantage of.
I don't think we need more industries, because there were already lots of them, but more upgrades would be welcome. There were lots of planes (most of them irrelevant) but only one truck and ship upgrade per industry. The ability to go gas or electric powererd to keep eco friendly town councils happy would be nice.8. More variety of vehicles would be nice.To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

Here's an interview with Cris Sawyer (Gamespy), maybe they mention something interesting, haven't read it yet, but I'm about to!

Here's the best news (so far) I have read:
GameSpy: What's the biggest complaint you've heard about the first game and did you make any changes to gameplay based on gamers' feedback?
Chris Sawyer: I think the most common complaint from players of the original game is that it's too difficult to individually remove trees while building a ride! Well that's something I've fixed, along with many other things, which perhaps frustrate players (including myself).
Btw, it's about RCT

Of course, that could have been done with a simple patch to the original game without having to have a full-blown sequel.Originally posted by ADG

Thx
It doesn't seem like they have made much changes in graphics (yet), but the changes they have made are great.
It seems like they have made some new objects in the game, and made new graphics for them, though it seems like they haven't changed the graphic style yet...

i agree, they are fine as they are now, except for maybe a topdown view, could be really handy to place paths between rollercoasters.<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.

Yeah, RTC2 doesn't seem to have many changes. It's added some rides, some additional types of paths, some more concession stands, and a better way to remove trees. It seems more like an expansion pack than a new version.
The good news is, this should cause the Loopy Landscapes expansion pack to fall below the $20.00 barrier.

Why do they have to use new graphics?
I'd rather that they implement new gameplay features (such as the scenario editor) rather then spending all their time making new graphics - especially when the graphics they already have are absolutely perfect.Rethink Refuse Reduce Reuse

besides the fact that the graphics are already good, i don't see how they could do it different, except going totally 3d. And that isn't necessarily better<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners.
