I’m on the path of recovery now, I received no attacks and I ended today’s game on the 194th spot. Market sales brought in $18mln, I once again have over 3000 acres and my networth is $970k.
I now have 205k troops, 240k jets, 270k turrets, 22k tanks and 71k spies; 1100 farms, 800 oil rigs and 500 enterprise zones; 83.800 tech points; and 12 missiles.

Right now, I’m in tyranny because it offers the benefit of +20% in oil production, which gives me about $600.000-$700.000 in additional market sales, but I’m considering to move to democracy which could should offer me a daily saving from 0% market commission of some $1mln. (assuming a sale of $18mln, on which 6% fee is paid) And that’s not considering the removal of a –25% income/capita disadvantage and cheaper market purchases.

I would lose military advantages though and I must admit that I myself am not impressed by military’s past achievements. What do you guys think of it?

We saw some vicious fighting today. Nashef kept attacking my ally Balduvia, so we sent in the troops and took 79 of their acres
Next thing we saw 2 missiles flying towards our lands! The first (chemical) destroyed 50 acres and killed 2000 of our citizens , the second was intercepted by our SDI defence!!
Must be a blow to them
Nashef sent 3 spies to blow up our single missile, but failed. If they are still around tomorrow, we will send the First Brigade again!
Another, stronger enemy Dontkillme started to attack Balduvia as well and won 2 victories with both the Balduvian and our army resting.
We put them on the list.

Despite all the fighting, we were able to grow some more. This is us:

      Alamos after 400 turns

I have started to deal with the infidel country of Nashef... Have extended my alliance hand to two nations and built myself a large ass army (or one that I think is large enough for now)

        Toronto after 650 turns

        My stats are:
        Land: 2478 Acres
        Worth: 482K
        Rank: 7877
        Population: 38k
Military: 30k spies, 72k troops, 102k jets, 112k turrets, 25k tanks and 1 nuclear missle.... I just used one
Research: 14k+ (all research is 5 to 8% above)

The apolyton clan... in game A with 5 members now is a force to not trifle with now... the stats are approx.

          Troops 320,000
          Jets 450,000
          Turrets 640,000
          Tanks 170,000
          Missle 10+

Doesn't it make you want to join a strong growing alliance. Next time Rib you must play the A game... Strength to Apolyton

A revolution was started and my government became a democracy. The damage was heavy, I again fell back, ending 208th place when I finished my turns today. The benefits were powerful though, I have a daily budget surplus of $50k now, up from some $6k when under tyranny, which gives me plenty of room to expand my army and move priorities for construction away from enterprise zones.

Positively I gained a new defensive ally, with 480k turrets and I’ve talked to someone who will accept my offensive alliance offer.

I truly hope this is the last time I fall back, I had and still have the ambition to reach the top 100.

            After 1676 turns:
            Acres: 3094
            Worth: 814K
            Rank: 208
            Military: 64K spies, 190K troops, 220K jets, 250K turrets, 21k tanks, 10 missiles

              What a session!

              Played turns 401-450 today.
Nashef has shrunk to outside our GDI range. Good work, OmniGod!
Dontkillme did not bother us again, he still has something coming though.
Partyzone twice attacked our ally Balduvia, which is now pretty defenceless. I had no choice but to cancel the alliance in order to cut my own losses. Better luck next time, Balduvia!

But then! We endured a massive attack by #9869 MCCity, we won but losses were heavy on both sides. Then we retaliated with a planned attack, and these were the gains: 264 acres , 125 buildings, 12 tech points, $1,254,206 in cash , 1310 bushels

With all this money it was easy enough to replace the losses and build a fresh standing army to cover for the First Brigade. I offered MCCity a research alliance as comfort

This is Alamos after 450 turns.

              Land: 2181 acres
              Net worth: 305K
              Rank: 9304
              Population: 26663
              Research: 11,0K
              Military: 22K Spies, 50K Troops, 31K Jets, 37,5K Turrets, 9750 Tanks, 2 Missiles

You all seem to be going overboard on spies. So far my 16:1 ratio has worked almost flawlessy in my Standard, and I haven't had any failiures yet with my 11:1 ratio in Tourney (but then again the new game is only a few days old)

Well, my ratio is only 10:1 (and OmniGod has 12:1). Against new players, who are behind in turns (I'm one of them but I train spies only), so far this was sufficient to be succesful, but against early participants it was not, for me.

Eternal, I know have a fair amount of spies but that’s because I lost much less spies than troops, jets etc and it declined less. I envisage to have a low ration in the future, but I’d like to note that spying hasn’t been a piece of cake for me (others have an even larger ratio) and that you have to consider acreage.

My spy ratio is based on my use of them... I use spies religously, you have something I want and I'll use spies then send in artillery, a missle and then jets and ground troops, but spies really can soften the enemy. I've also stopped every attempted spy incursion into my nation and thus I believe a 12:1 is not a bad place to be... eventually it will fall but only because I'll have increased my troops to commit some more GS attacks

We had an uneventful episode. Put buildings on the barren land we conquered yesterday (including 16 additional construction sites, which makes 60 ), played the market and did some research. Silence before the storm?

Steady as she goes... nobody attacked me the past 2 days, my networth surpassed the $1mln threshold and I also surpassed the 200th spot again, ending at the 195th.

Well just moved up another 25k and 250 spots to 7119. And I ceased attacking a nation who was attacked alamos but then tried me and then messaged me... please stop attacking me, if you don't then I can't do anything about it... I laughed and ceased the war since there was an alliance with alamos
