Those config.sys changes were only tested on Windows 95. They did not work on Windows ME. I have not tried to adjust a Windows 98 machine. Sorry. However, the Unofficial MOM page has a link to a bootdisk maker that sets up DOS so it will run MOM. It is supposed to work with Windows98.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. It should not have any effect on Windows programs and may improve the performance of DOS programs.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. I just enter "master of magic" into google. It comes up as the 1st or 2nd link every time.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. Hmm... I used http://w0rm.8m.com 's bootdisk until I somehow made using sounds impossible under DOS on my computer. Now I just play it under Windows without sounds (I don't have the mem to play under win with sounds). This is Shireroth, and Giant Squid will brutally murder me if I ever remove this link from my signature | In the end it won't be love that saves us, it will be mathematics | So many people have this concept of God the Avenger. I'm still playing it under WIN98 with sounds and on top speed... it's really not that hard...
and it's not that hard to get a boot menu sorted, from which you can easily switch into the DOS mode without ever having started windows after re-booting. piece of cake! well, for windows-nerds...

CW: Consider yourself lucky. I can get 3K under needed when I just use F8 when booting up, so I have to use the bootdisk to get enough memory. Then why do you get more memory than I? Hardware. I don't think you have a mystic "system" that takes up 30K of conventional memory?
But, if you think that you're good enough at using DOS, you're welcome to try to get the sounds working under DOS for me... No, the sound card does not use the same resources under DOS than in Windows.
I miss the times of my old 386, when sounds were so simple: 220 5 1.This is Shireroth, and Giant Squid will brutally murder me if I ever remove this link from my signature | In the end it won't be love that saves us, it will be mathematics | So many people have this concept of God the Avenger. (I got a server hangup message, and haven't seen the thread updated... I'm actually pretty sure that my earlier post got through, but I'll make it sure anyway, I don't tolerate anyone calling me a windows nerd... BTW, it requires timing to use F8 correctly after LILO boot)This is Shireroth, and Giant Squid will brutally murder me if I ever remove this link from my signature | In the end it won't be love that saves us, it will be mathematics | So many people have this concept of God the Avenger. How do you do it then?
