      • I concur with the bloody good entertainment.

Lets see a double double KO!

        • Semi-final 1, round 11

Jamski and Chaunk, though both are beginning to quiver with exhaustion and blood loss, stagger towards one another. The look in their eyes makes all those who see it certain that nothing but death will stop them now.

Jamski, somehow drawing on some energy reserve left in him, enters a spinning dance, his sword making a whirling shield through which no blow of Chaunks could possibly penetrate. Chaunk doesn't even try, but simply stands, gloves and helmet at the ready.

Suddenly, Jamski turns from defense to offense, delivering a blinding and seemingly unstoppable strike, more beautifully executed than any he has so far performed, which looks certain to slice Chaunk's head cleanly fom his shoulders, with just a few Joules of excess energy. The crowd leans forward expectantly as certain death streaks towards Chaunk's neck.
          Spoiler:
But somehow, Chaunk reaches up calmly and catches Jamski's blade between his heavily gloved hands and stops it dead in the air.

With a twist, Chaunk turns the blade in Jamski's blood-soaked, slippery hands, and, though he is unable to pull it from Jamski's grip, he is able to push its edge into Jamski's neck, above his armour, bringing a thin line of red into existence, and threatening to sever Jamski's artery. With a jerk, Jamski recovers from his shock and pulls his blade from Chaunk's hands, stumbling backwards with blood flowing freely down from his head and neck.

Jamski suffered 14 damage, leaving 13HP and Chaunk none, leaving 7HP.
I'm accepting orders for round 12.

They don't come much closer than this! Sheer brilliance on the part of Chaunk.

              • Nice one Chaunk...........I thought you were a goner there, with an outside chance of double KO. Now it's looking tight.

                • Oh. My. God.

                  I am impressed.

That was using a defense of 50 on the first row

                  (Probably) Final Orders Sent.

                      • Semi-final 2, round 5

Theben and the Doctor, entranced by the astounding feats being performed in the battle beside them, almost forget their own fight, but before long they turn away from the spectacle and towards one another once more.

With a scowl, the Doctor raises his blade, and Theben lifts his shield in response. Ignoring their wounds, both gladiators leap toward one another, weapons at the ready, the Doctor holding Wit outstreched and Theben holding his hield before him and his sword to the side, ready for a deadly swing.

The Doctor feints low, but as soon as Theben's shield begins to drop, his light rapier whips up to bypass the defense. Theben, who is missing a chunk of his bicep from his shield arm, cannot lift it again in time, and the Doctor's blow, though it comes from an exhausted hand, and has not the skill of his former assaults, looks sure to strike true.

                        Spoiler:
And it does, the rapier sinking through Theben's Jugular vein and through his neck, protruding from the other side in a spurt of hot blood. However, Theben's nerves remain intact, and with a last blood-splattering gasp of "Death and Glory!" he retains his grip of his sword, as its inertia sends it swinging on its inevitable course. The Doctor's eyes widen, but his blade cannot save him and he raises his arm in the only possible defense. Theben's sword slices cleanly through the fingers raised before it, and embeds itself deep into the Doctor's neck, lodging on a vertebra.

The two bodies, linked by their firm death-grip on their weapons, slump to the ground together. Each gladiator's consciousness gradually fades as their lifeblood is pumped from their bodies and mingles around them, their last sight the face of the opponent against whom they were so evenly matched.

Both gladiators lost the last of their HP and are dead.
The contestants have 24hr to agree on a reasonable method to resolve the combat, or we'll fall back on my original plan (Actually it will probably be more like 34hr, but don't count on it).

Phew :relief:. This is intense stuff! Has there been a double-KO in the knockout stage before? I don't remember seeing one in my research.

In the meantime, I'll try to figure out how to work the storyline to bring the dead back to life.

For the record, all the above happened in just the first segment of combat.

And now some padding so Jamski's response doesn't spoil the surprise for later readers .

I suggest you leave them both dead. Dead is dead in these rounds. The winner of Gladiator IV will be whoever survives me vs Chaunk
