    civ2 and smac are the worst offenders.

      That was in Civ2. I built an army of 70 units to unload in the enemy continent. So, I take the first city on my path, and for whatever reason I don't remember I unload all I've got in it and end the turn. The AI strikes back with a nuke and BANG! Lost like 30 howitzers, 30 tanks, battleships, an aircraft carrier, stealth bomber... OUCH!

        I know lol, that sucks.. never fortify more than 3 mech inf in a city. The AI will never nuke a convoy of transports. As long as they are protected by (AEGIS) Cruisers they're safe
