    • My Tutu party finally got to BGII, after defeating Sarevok a little too easily (did it 4 times, because the converstion to normal BGII was annoying). PC now dualled to a Cleric, and has just got his Ranger skills back. He has 19 STR, 19 DEX, 19 CON and 19 WIS, and can cast DuHM, so he pretty much rocks. Have done circus and slaver stockade, and now have Kelsey in my party too Party now consists of PC, Minsc, Jaheira (romance), Yoshi and Kelsey - Keldorn to come later, just before doing Unseeing Eye and Windspear Hills quests.

By the end of the game, my PC will have a CHA of 23 (Sensiate Amulet, Plate of Balduran, Nymph Clock, Ring of Human Influence) and a STR of 25 (Chrom Fayer) This is going to be fun

      • You know you can get a permanant CHA of 25 in BG2, and you don't need all that junk either.

        Spoiler:
Wear the Ring of Human Influence and hit things with the Rod of Terror. Each hit has a chance of reducing your CHA. When it reaches 0 it will roll over to 25 if you have the RoHI equipped, and will stay there.

          • * duke is highly amused at such blatant abuse

I've been asked to go bandit hunting by the lady in Beregost, but am not going to bother just yet. I may troll through the woods between Beregost and the Friendly Arms just to get some money together, but I'm going to go east and west first, to visit the coastline and the mountains to the east (I think that there are mountains there - anyway, whatever stops you going off the edge of the map. I went around the Temple to the east of Beregost, and found tonnes of wolves, including some cool Vampire wolves that gave me loads of experience. I also met this wizard who was creating jellies, but couldn't kill them. How can I damage jellies? I did get hold of a wand of summoning, which is loads of fun. Trouble is, I always get wolves. Will the summoned monster depend upon the area you're in? If I'm in a forest then could I get skellingtons or something else? I have to find a dungeon. Ulcaster School sounds promising, if only to find out what other kinds of monster I can summon to take all the blows while my party stands back to take them out with arrows and slings.

            • Btw BG cost me £3, though it hasn't arrived yet. I wont get around to it for a while, since the new TFT patch is coming and I'll probably play that for a bit.

              • Are you just showing off here then?
From whom did you get it at such a bargain price? Some idiot, I'll warrant. I don't know. Folk these days just don't know the value of a decent game.

You won't need to. The bandits are part of the story, since you've done the Nashkel mines. You've probably been told the details by now...?

Those ones? Magical melee weapons IIRC. Others are easier, but those are nasty. In the area where you exit the Nashkel mines, with the 3 tombs - the jellies that poison and slow you?

IIRC it's random 3 HD monsters. Wolves, gibberlings, kobolds, knolls, that kind of thing. Wolves are common though.

Why not have a tank, a party member with very low AC, very high HP, and a melee weapon? Put him in front of your party, shoot arrows while the monsters come towards you, and then when they're almost upon you, have him attack. With a high AC, he won't get hit much, and he'll be the only one, with enough HP to easily survive. Minsc can do well for this, even Khalid can do (although I prefer him as a bowman), Kagain is made for it, and a PC fighter can do it too.

                  • Wand of Monster Summoning is the business

If you think its getting empty, sell it, and buy/steal it back for a full recharge. One of the best items in the game - noone can cope with hordes of summoned crap!

Jellies - very hard to kill. Depending on the type of Jellie, and the rule system, they come with 100% immunity to whole ranges of things.

Fire is generally good, or magic, but some jellies respond to blunt weapons but are immune to magic... you get the idea

                      • BTW: My Tutu-BGII party now has 5 members, PC Ranger/Cleric, Jaheira, Minsc, Yoshi and Kelsey, and is about to attack Bodhi, to get the Mace of Disruption Haven't been out of Athkatla yet, but have done most quests there, including Thieves Guild, all but the Planar Prison of the Playhouse, and the Unseeing Eye quest. I want to do the Keep and Trademeet before getting Keldorn and doing the Unseeing Eye. Then off to Windspear and Umar Hills, if I can be bothered to do them yet.

My PC now dual wields The Sleeper (Morning Star+2, can knock unconscious) and Wyvern's Tail (MS+2, can poison), and rocks majorly. I'd also forgotten how good Sorcerors are, as Kelsey is reminding me.

                        • I'm not annoyed Spikie. I was just being daft. I got my copy new from Amazon so I paid £15. Got ToSC with it too though!

Jellies sound tough. Damn! I could use Minsc as a tank quite easily - he's got about 37 HP (level 4), and some magic armour I nicked from someone or other. When you say magic weapons, does that include +1 and +2 stuff? I guess it must, because I kept getting a message saying that my ordinary arrows weren't working, but other weapons did. If I'd been an evil character, then I'd have dearly loved to kill the wizard, leg it, and then return for his magic items once the jellies had buggered off. Is this possible?

                            Weapons:Bludgeoning or slashing magical weapons.
No piercing weapon (all range weapons, spear, short sword).

Spells: fire or acid. Frost (iirc) will not work.

Yeah, for reasons that we wont go into here I already had ToSC, so I went for a cheap copy of BG alone.

                              • All above board as usual then I see. Excellent.

Will Dynaheir automatically get Fireball when she gets to level 4? It's not that far off, so I'm thinking of just noodling around so I can get her the experience required, before going off to fight nasty things. I bought Fire Missile (I think that's what it's called) from Thalantyr, all thanks to my lovely heroic discount. Trouble is, it won't let me write it into her spellbook yet. Don't know why, because she's already got one level 3 spell in there, although she can't actually cast it yet.
Maybe if I reduced the difficulty temporarily.....
