    • I may be wrong, but the way I understand it is:

      With Cleave as soon as you kill a creature, you get a free attack on a nearby creature. Very nifty.

      with great cleave you have no limits to how many extra attacks, but this requires you to finish off a monster, strike another monster, kill it, and the be able to strike another monster. As long as you continue killing monsters you continue swinging. Great for weak enemies. but by the time you get it you are fighting tougher creatures.

        • I didn't see much of a payoff from great cleave in my SoU game, though cleave is great. Improved knockdown and disarm (also requiring decent dexterity and intelligence) were more useful.

          • If you happen to have both: a) The ability to sneak attack with a halberd and b) A henchman to distract enemies the the great cleave is... good. At least in my experience it is.
            I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).
