    Me Go Gem!

yeah, Me Go Gem was quite amusing, at least for a while

I've started going through the Pool of Radiance Module, I give it two I know the plot already, since I first played it on an old IBM 286, using 5 and 1/2" floppies , but its really cool to play it with the NWN engine.

...and I'm still waiting for someone to recommend some high level modules The only one that I've found so far is "sex and the single adventuress"

Deekin? That kobold is more trouble than he is worth for me. Always getting in the way. Always seems to cast a spell that knocks me down while I'm in melee. I get torn up when lying on the ground.

I left him somewhere, maybe I'll go looking for him later.

I'm about to finish SOU (I think). Right now I'm an 11th level monk.

      • I did the PoR module recently. Its not bad at all apart from the final scene. Then it gets a "B" Wait till you get outside of the city - its huge, and the ziggurat is a real PITA - great design

As for high level modules... I'm more of a level 1-10 freak. I feel that's where the fun is. My HotU character is too powerful for me to identify with. Crits on 10-20 for 120 points of damage??? Ow!

I've always been just the opposite, even back in the PnP days of my youth, I loved playing high level characters, doing quests for or against Gods, traveling into the different layers of Hell, etc. Good Stuff

I loved HOTU, for the reasons I just described, but it left me wanting more

          • I always play Rogues, and I like the "If I don't find that trap, the whole party will die" feel that you only get at low levels. Also when you're level 1, the backstab is such a lethal blow. No monster can take your awesome 2d6+2 damage (ish)

            • Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm not sneezing at low level adventures, after your character gets to high levels it sometimes gets hard to remember back to the times when the sight of a single orc or (God forbid) an ogre, made you run scared

Pulling yourself up from being a nobody is part of the fun of being low level, striving torward god-like proportions is (for me at least) the fun of the higher level characters.

                Community Expansion Pack
                What´s that?
I promise to read your threads carefully next time

Deekin! That was his name! He was my henchman at the last XP, obviulsy he had to be on this new adventure... sadly I had to kill him when he turned against me for some unknown reason I couldn´t resurrect him and had to leave his body there... still he was very tough and the drow girl and me had a lot of trouble trying to kill him, he used all his protective spells and it was almost impossible to hit

                • Community Expansion Pack is a BIG hakpak with all the best models, textures weapons etc combined into one thing. Its basically a resorce for builders, but its intended to be the new standard for custom content, so will be required for a lot of the newer modules. Its a 120meg download, but then downloading modules will be much smaller, as the custom content will already be in your haks folder.

                  Did I say its BIG?

                  • I like mid range characters the best.

I don't like being so helpless at lower levels. Even with parties you are too close to dying. This is really tough in hard core worlds with permanent death.

As I often play clerics, wizards or some other spellcaster. The good spells don't come until later.

Also fighter start to get some seperation from wizards in terms of number of hit points. They really begin to show dominance.

Level 4 to 11 is probably the sweet spot for me.

But then you start getting too powerful, and in order to be a challenge, you have to fight ridculously powerful creatures. And justifying putting these creatures in common areas requires plot devices that often don't work that well.

                    • Oh gurus of NWN........if the original campaign sucks, and one has an expansion, could one just skip to the expansion, or is the first game a prequel in the overall story?

                      • Yes, you can. I got bored with the OC, and re-started with the 1st expansion.

You can also start from scratch with the 2nd expansion, but you start with a high level character, whereas the 1st expansion is for starting as a 1st level character. I would suggest using the OC for the tutorial section, in case you aren't familiar with the interface or rules.

                        • RE. prequal

There is some mention of events of the OC in the 2nd expansion but nothing major. The 2nd expansion is really more of a sequal to the 1st expansion.

                          • The original campaign did drag out a bit for me. I just finished SoU and really enjoyed it. It's definately shorter than the original but it's good.

I also started HotU and already think it is awesome. Bioware has really done a lot to improve the game over these expansions.

In fact the 2nd Expansion assumes that your character is the same one as has played through the 1st Expansion.

Yes that's certainly true, but if someone doesn't play the 1st expansion before the 2nd, they will be just fine and won't miss out on any major parts of the story.

The only part that I can think of is the reappearance of a certain henchman.
