  • Ehmm... yeah... RL events screwed up my memory, so I completely forgot about it (This is why I suggested having a free-play mode instead)

        • Yeah... if someone wants to play 7 years instead of 5, just let him... and even let him play 2+ 'turns' in a row... I don't like being forced to play something in times were I'm not interested in playing... during the last week I haven't really had much interest in playing SimCity, but my interest will return soon

            • Well, I went 'just a tad' over... I have a beautyful 2nd-stage small airport and a university ($101,000! ). All my power has been converted to solar.

Let's see if this new upload thingamabober works... http://apolyton.net/upload/files/Mat...eoMatthous.zip

                  • The newest version of Jonnyopolis can be found at:

                    (NOT at ADG's FTP.)

I think I played until about '27, or somewhere around there. There was extreme growth, going from around 25000 residents to 65000 residents. High-rise apartments are being built (although many are unsightly, huge tenements) and the farmland is also being turned into more developed land. Commerce is also booming. The railroad has plenty of riders, and the regional economy would certainly benefit if Grimdale, Novaya Tassagrad, and/or Vovanburg built rails in their cities to connect to ours.

                      • The $10 rebate is a trick, very few people have gotten them (according to reading from last month at simtropolis- mine has been "in the mail" since dec. 26).

                          • No big complaints, suprisingly. It's a great all-around expansion.

can some one explain to me how the regions work, if you play multiple citys, how does time pass in the adjoining cities...

                              • Regions are a great addition, IMHO. Here's how they work:

You start playing in one city. As is normal in Sim City games, you create road/rail/highway etc. connections to your neighbord. In SC4, they mean something. Traffic and jobs will pass from one city to another.

When you create a second city, the connections made to it from the other city will appear on the borders. Time will not have changed- if you played 10 years in one city the others will still be at 0 years. What changes is, well, just about everything else. The most obvious factors are RCI demand and cash. RCI is affected by neighboring city population. A high residental area will raise demand for industry and commercial in adjoining cities, same for commercial etc. Neighbor deals mean something too- if you are buying power from one city, it must have connected power lines and enough plants to support the demand. Your income (or cost) will change as the base price changes- ex. higher $/kwh plants means you will be paying more (or getting more income).

Traffic is also a calculated factor now. Hitting alt-? and clicking on nearly any structure will show you how people travel. Alt-clicking on roads will show where the traffic is going to and from. You will also see the types (car, bus etc.).

I hope you can read this- I'm too tired to proofread now. For good information/region tutorials and great mods, check out www.simtropolis.com.
